I. Objective: Discover literature to better understand one’s unique identity.

II. Subject Matter:


Topic: Where’s the Patis by Carmen Guerrero Nakpil
Teaching aids: Visual text written in Manila paper, Grade 7 Learning Module, box, pieces of paper

III. Developmental Activities:


Activity:Lead the learners in answering the activity “You’re not Eating your Words”. Let them study the
sentences related to the selection that they are about to read. Ask them to to complete the sentences using
the most appropriate word. Give them5-10 minutes to accomplish the task.
Analysis: instruct them to read the selection and stop on the “Wait” part to answer the question.
Process questions:
1. Why do you think Filipinos love to eat rice?
2. How will you describe the waiters in the selection?
3. Do you think the person in the selection enjoys eating food from other countries? Why do you think so?
Discuss the selection with the students. Let them relate their experiences with the person in the selection.
Abstraction: Guide questions:
1. What Filipino foods are mentioned in the selection?
2. What specific food do you like from the selection?
Let the learners sum up what they have learned from the selection.
Application:Prepare question cards for the activity. Use the questions in the LM. Let the learners write their
names on a 1/8 sheet of paper and put it inside a box. The teacher will pick a piece of paper from the box and
call a learner to answer the question.
