under must have their parents’ permission to enroll, and MUST be accompanied by a legal
guardian or relative of age at the show.
2. HOW TO ENTER: Signups for the Cosplay Competition will have to be registered by
________. To sign up, the entrant will be required to fill out the entry form (PDF form) and
email it in to _________ (Please send the PDF as an attached file.) The total number of
entrants that will be allowed this year will be 100. [All skit entries MUST enter before the
_______ deadline, in order to have enough time for review of materials. If you do not make
the first cutoff for skit entries, you will be placed on a waiting list, in case of drop
outs/disqualifications.] All entries are taken on a first come, first served basis.

3. COSTUME GUIDELINES:
a. No costume is NO COSTUME. While many popular characters wear what could be
termed “street clothes”, a single character in regular, everyday clothing isn’t very engaging
and thus, is disqualified.
b. Body Coverage: Jr. Otaku-ki is a family friendly environment and has to adhere to the
rules and regulations set forth by the organizers. All costumes need to be tasteful. This
means body paint, latex pasties, etc. are not considered adequate body coverage without
additional clothing being worn over it.
c. Shoes are required at all times. Even if a cosplay character goes barefoot, the cosplayer
must wear shoes.
d. All costumes worn within the convention center must fit through a standard doorway (36
inches). Any attendee wearing a bulky costume, or one with poor visibility, should have a
handler available to escort him/her.
*For cosplay contest: costumes that have low visibility or are a bit bulky may have
a handler help them in individual and group competition.
NOTE: Assembly of costume is NOT allowed on stage during the cosplay contest.
This will be automatic disqualification.
e. All prop weapons must conform to weapon policy; if a policy violation is discovered by any
of the convention staff or judges panel, that entry will be disqualified (see page 5 for
weapon policy)
f. No nudity. No clothes is no clothes.

cursing not allowed on network TV, etc.) Sexual humor is not allowed. This covers yaoi,
yuri, mpreg, auto-erotica, tentacles, lolicon, etc. If your joke/skit could not be performed at
your workplace or in front of your grandmother, then you probably can’t perform it at the
contest itself.
*If you have a question about your content, please feel free to ask the Jr. Otaku-ki Staff if it
is allowable.

COSTUME GUIDELINES AND WEAPONS POLICY:

All prop weapons must conform to weapon policy, which is as follows:
1. All weapons must be inspected by a member of our security staff and tagged prior to
entry. If you have a weapon that does not pass inspection, you will not be allowed in the
show.
2. No real weaponry (live firearms, sharp blades, etc.) are allowed. All weapons must be
non-working and peace bounded. Orange or Red Tip (either painted or taped) is
requested for all firearm related props.
3. No functioning projectile weapons - including water pistols, silly-string guns, or nerf guns.
4. Bladed weapons must be affixed in their sheaths so that they cannot be removed. No
clowning around in the commons area.
5. Any weapon used in an offensive manner will be confiscated. Anyone who violates this
rule may be asked to leave the convention area with no refund given. Please use good
judgment.
6. Wings are allowed to be worn. However, please be aware of the space you take up.
Knocking over a crowd of people every time you turn around is not a fun way to spend
your weekend! It is a good idea to make your wings small enough that they will not
cause you or the people around you any problems in getting around. Maybe you can
make them so that they fold up for times when you’re on the show floor.
7. Large scale and super elaborate costumes can be impressive but also difficult to get
around in! We don’t want to see your hard work damaged and wouldn’t want other
attendees tripping over your costume so please be aware of the space around you and
the crowd. Where possible, it is a good idea to have a friend along to help take care of
you and your costume. It may be a good idea to bring along a change of clothes in case
you want to explore the convention more easily out of costume.
8. Masks, Helmets, Make Up and Facial Coverings should be easy to remove if
requested by security and staff. This will also make it easier for you to eat, drink and
communicate – three very important parts of any expo! Please make sure body paint
and fake blood is sealed and applied correctly as they can damage property and other
people’s costumes. (Glued Prosthetics will be asked for ID.
9. While being in character, it’s important to remember that not everyone will appreciate
your intention of bringing the character to life. Just be aware of other patrons, staff,
guests and exhibitors at the event and be conscious of what you say and do.
