Question 1: In Figure 2, a plane truss structure, consisting of three truss elements, is subject to a
force F=50kN and two roller supports applied at nodes No 2 and No 3, respectively. All the three
elements have the same cross-sectional areas A = 150 mm2 and Young’s Modulus E = 200 GPa.

Use the finite element method and hand calculations, determine:

(1) Nodal displacements for the truss structure within the global coordinate X-Y.
(2) Stresses within each truss element within the global coordinate X-Y.
