Arithmetic Sequence
Semi – Detailed Lesson Plan
Grade 10 - Diamond
June , 2019
I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a) generate and describe patterns;
b) illustrate arithmetic sequence; and
c) state whether the given sequence is an arithmetic sequence or not.
III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities
Prayer
“Lord, we are gathered once again in your presence to start a new day. Bless our
teachers and fellow students as we go on with our studies. Give us strength and
knowledge o’Lord that we may learn well. Guide us throughout the day. This we
ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

B. Lesson Proper
Pre-developmental Activity
1. Review
2. Drill
The students will form a two circles sharing their vacation experiences.
(5mins)
3. Motivation
Showing pictures of different landmarks and students will recognize patterns.
Developmental Activity
1. Presentation (Lecture/Discussion)
A sequence is a function whose domain is the finite set
{1,2,3,…,n} or the infinite set {1,2,3,…}.
Arithmetic Sequence or arithmetic progression is a set or
series of numbers following a certain pattern depending on the common
difference. The common difference is constant or a fixed number.
Any series of numbers that do not have a common difference is not an
arithmetic sequence or progression
2. Unlocking of Difficulties
“How are sequences used to model and solve some mathematical ideas and
real-life situations?”
Post-developmental Activity
1. Practice and Drill
Determine if it is a arithmetic Sequence:
1. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10
2. 5, 4, 7, 9, 11, 10, 8
What is the next number?
What is the 10th number?
0, 4, 8, 12, 16, _______
Mark takes a job with a starting salary of Php50.00 per hour. He was
promised an increase of Php5.00 per hour every three months for 5
years. What will be his wage per hour at the end of 5 years?
2. Generalization
Recognizing and extending patterns are important skills needed for learning
concepts related to an arithmetic sequence. The constant is called the
common difference and the said sequence is called arithmetic sequence,
IV. Evaluation
I. Determine if the following series of numbers are arithmetic sequences or not. If the given is
an arithmetic sequence, write S on the space provided. If not, write N.
1. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14
2. 5, 4, 7, 9, 11, 10, 8
3. 25, 28, 31, 34, 37, 40, 43
4. 14, 15, 17, 17, 19, 20, 21
5. 124, 126, 128, 130, 132, 134, 136
6. 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70
7. 1.5, 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 5.5, 6.5, 7.5
8. P15.00, P17.00, P19.00, P21.00
9. 17, 18, 35, 34, 21, 22, 16
10. 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28
