The differences between the third occupant seat and the pilot seats are as
follows:
It has only mechanical controls. So, no circuit breakers and no electrical
connector to deal with during removal and installation.
S The seat is raised by 100 mm. (3.94 inch) on the rotating star for good
visibility.
S When aligned with the centerline and in extreme forward position, the seat
rotates counter−clockwise to one of three positions : 30, 45 or 68 degrees.
S The lateral travel is 4 inches (101.6 mm.) instead of 3 inches (76.2 mm.) for
the pilot seats.
S Both armrests are of the pilots inboard armrest type
S The life vest is stowed in a box located on the AFT partition of the cockpit.

The Power Relays supply the electrical motor with three phase 115 Volt
alternating current.
To invert the rotation of the electrical motor, the Relays cross phases A and B,
as only one Relay can be energized at a time.
End Of Travel
When the seat reaches the End Of Travel in one direction, the corresponding
contact automatically opens to cut the power to the motor. Movements in the
other directions remain possible.

COMPONENT DESCRIPTION
Lateral Overhead Stowage−Compartments
The lateral overhead stowage−compartments are single box structures.
Each stowage compartment has one or two doors with a locking mechanism on
the bottom edge of the door.
A hinge mechanism at the door, attaches the door(s) to the stowage
compartment. The doors open upwards and give access to the compartment
from the aisle.
A gas−filled damper strut, attached at each door hinge arm, controls the
opening and closing speed of the door. When the door is unlatched the damper
strut holds the door in the fully open position.
Each stowage compartment has a grip rail installed along its length below the
compartment door.
Mounting rails are attached to the bottom of each stowage compartment.
These mounting rails hold the passenger service/information units (PSU/PIU)
of the passenger service channel. A cover is installed between the grip rail and
the inboard mounting rail.

Emergency Evacuation
The simplest emergency evacuation procedure for the flight crew is to go
through the cockpit door and use the emergency exits in the passenger
compartment.
If necessary, a secondary means enables evacuation of the crew from the
cockpit. It is possible to open the sliding windows and to use the escape ropes
kept in the ceiling.
When the cabin is not pressurized, each sliding window can be opened without
any strong effort.
To open it a continuous two−phased control is used.
The control is located at the forward section of the windshield panel.
The dimension of the window opening is sufficient to enable evacuation.
The ice, snow etc ... will not usely prevent movement of the window panel
since the operating mechanism and the guide rails are located in the cockpit.
A 6.7 m long knotted rope is kept above the sliding windows on either side of
the overhead panel.
The cover plate of each stowage is held closed by spring clips. It can thus be
opened quickly.
These stowages are marked with red labels.
The ropes and their attachments can support a load of 900 kg.

Description
The HFP (Heated Floor Panels) increase the temperature of the cabin floor in
the area of the passenger/crew−doors and emergency−exits.
The control units which control the HFP are installed in the underfloor
compartments:
S for the FWD area, the control units are installed in the avionics
compartment and in the FWD cargo compartment.
S for the MID and AFT areas, the control units are installed in the MID, AFT
and bulk cargo compartments.
The Heated Floor Panels
Each heated floor panel has an electrical heating foil protected with an
aluminum outer cover plate.
To decrease the possibility of heat loss, insulation material is fitted to the
bottom of the heated floor panel below the heating foil.
The heated floor panel has two drain holes, one each side, and is shaped to
drain away any water that collects on the panel when the doors are opened.
The heated floor panel has a temperature sensor and two safety switches.
If a control unit has a malfunction and supplies constant power to a heated
floor panel, the first safety switch will operate.
The safety switch operating parameters are approximately between 35 deg.C
(95.00 deg.F) and 55 deg.C (131.00 deg.F) .
If the heated floor panel temperature increases above 70 deg.C (158.00 deg.F)
the second safety switch will stop the power supply to the heated floor panel.

If the temperature goes below 29 deg.C (84.20 deg.F) the control unit supplies
power to heat the related floor panel.
When the temperature goes above 32 deg.C (89.60 deg.F) the control unit
switches off the power to the related heated floor panel.
Each control unit has two fuses to protect the related heated floor panel.
Each control unit has a test function for each heated floor panel with a TEST
pushbutton and two LED‘s (one for each heated floor panel).
Bite
Each control unit has its own BITE function.
The BITE function monitors the correct function of:
control and monitor circuits,
the connected heater elements,
the connected temperature sensor,
the two solid state relays,
the power supply of the system,
the interface connector.
You can start the BITE test when you push the TEST pushbutton, located on
the front of the control unit.
Two LED (Light Emitting Diodes) show the correct function of the system.

Inflation reservoir (SLIDE bottle) − Pressure Monitoring
The CIDS monitors the SLIDE bottle pressure of all passenger/crew doors and
emergency exits. The pressure status is shown on the PIM at the FAP.
The related low pressure status is shown on the PIM display when the
information SELECT DOORS/SLIDES is shown and the CIDS caution light is
on.
The SLIDE−bottle pressure check can also be done through the sightglass at
the top of the deco-panel. There is a direkt reading gage with a temperature
compensation.
Indication (New FAP)
The CIDS monitors the SLIDE−bottle pressure of all passenger/crew doors and
emergency exits.
The pressure status is shown on the FAP 120RH.
If the display screen is blank, touch the screen surface and the CABIN

The electrical connector is connected to the CIDS. During handling and/or maintenance, the safety−pin is installed in the trigger
housing of the valve regulator assembly.
A pressure gage is installed on the valve regulator assembly to show the gas
pressure in the inflation reservoir. This prevents accidental deployment/gas discharge.
The gas pressure is also monitored by the CIDS. A microswitch, installed on the valve regulator assembly, gives a low pressure
indication through the CIDS if the safety−pin is installed.
There are two different types of gage (MODEL A and MODEL B).
Indicator
MODEL A has a green cursor which is temperature sensitive.
MODEL B has a needle with an internal mechanism which is temperature
sensitive.
They can give temporary low pressure indications when the aircraft is exposed
to sudden temperature changes (from a cold to a warm environment).
The cursor/needle reacts to temperature changes faster than the gas
expansion in the inflation reservoir.
The permitted indications for MODEL A are as follows:
S AREA A (green cursor width) shows a correct indication.
S AREA B shows a permitted indication, because of sudden temperature
changes.
The permitted indications for MODEL B are as follows:

Inflatable Assembly
The inflatable assembly has a girt assembly with a girt bar pushed through it. The aspirator/s function as an air pump during deployment.
The girt bar is attached to the door structure in usual operation. In this position Flapper valves installed in the aspirator/s operate as a one−way check valve

A manual inflation handle is attached to the girt assembly. A re−entry/mooring line is installed on the side of a tube, from the door exit
If during deployment the inflatable assembly does not inflate, you can pull the end, to almost the full length of the escape−slide. It permits a person to
inflation handle to inflate the inflatable assembly. re−enter the cabin over the deployed escape−slide.
For the escape−slide raft a quick−release girt bar is pushed through the girt
assembly, and is attached to the girt bar.
The girt bar has a quick−release lever, which lets you remove the girt assembly
from the door structure. This permits the use of the portability function.
When deployed, the inflatable assembly is a single/dual−lane escape−slide,
which extends in a diagonal direction, from the door exit to the ground. In this
condition the girt bar is attached to the floor fittings, and the emergency
control−handle is set in the ARMED/AUTOMATIC position. The inflation
reservoir is held in a pocket, which is attached to the bottom of the inflated
escape−slide.
A girt release handle is kept below a cover on the girt assembly. The cover is
closed with burr−strip. When you pull this handle the girt assembly opens, and
the deployed escape−slide can be removed from the door exit.
The surface of the escape−slide is a fabric panel joined between the tubes, and
is not inflated. Deceleration strips are attached at the end of the lane to
decrease speed and help position the evacuee upright. A light harness is
attached on the upper side of each tube, and across the bottom of the
escape−slide.
Assist/deflate handles are attached on each side of the escape−slide near the
lower end.
If there is a strong wind, persons on the ground can hold the escape−slide with
the handles. If there is not enough pressure (not fully inflated), the
escape−slide can then be used as a hand−held chute.
Pressure relief valves are installed to prevent over inflation of the escape−slide.
The relief valves open at a specified pressure to vent excess air.
They close automatically when the escape−slide pressure is more than the
minimum pressure necessary for operation.
Aspirator/s are installed on the tube side/s near to the door exit.
They are connected with pressure hose/s to the mechanical connector on the
Page 62 inflation reservoir.

OPERATION
Life Vests
The instructions for use are available on each life vest. When you pull the
JERK TO INFLATE handles , this makes a hole in the carbon dioxide
cartridges and inflates the buoyancy chambers.
If the primary system does not operate the buoyancy chambers can be inflated
through the secondary oral inflators .
You can also use the oral inflators if more pressure in the life vest is necessary.
The cabin staff give visual instructions with „DEMO“ life vests which are kept in
the aircraft.
NOTE: To prevent errors, these life vests are identified with the word
DEMO in large letters.
Rafts
When the raft is deployed, the passengers and crew can go onto the raft
through the exit door.
On board the raft you pull the girt−release handle to disconnect the girt
assembly from the aircraft.
After the girt assembly is disconnected the raft is still connected to the aircraft
by the mooring/re−entry line.
To disconnect the mooring/re−entry line:
S You pull the quick−disconnect assembly of the mooring/re−entry line.
S Or, cut the mooring/re−entry line with the knife, which is kept in a pocket
attached to a tube of the raft.

Control Box
Two control boxes (10MY and 110 MY) are installed behind the sidewall panels
of the FWD and AFT cargo compartments.
The control box 10MY is located between FR19 and FR20 in the FWD cargo
compartment. The control box 110MY is located between FR59 and FR60 in
the AFT cargo compartment.
Note: The control boxes 10MY and 110 MY are the same. Therefore only one
is described. Any differences are given where applicable.
The control box is operative only on ground. It operates via a joystick located
on each control panel to control the operation of power drive units in the cargo
compartments.
The control box makes a link between the joystick and the Power Drive Unit
(PDU).
It controls the function of the PDU due to the selected commands of the
joystick in the control panel.
