Introduction
Traffic congestion in Metro Manila is worse than what you expect. Metro Manila ranks
3rd or 4th on the list of worst cities. It is also said that it is the worst city on Earth. Traffic in
Metro Manila is congested and chaotic because we allow it to be that way. Traffic refers to the
movement of people and vehicles. “We” because we’re all road users. We don’t follow rules and
regulations provided in roadways. The basic rules which are provided to ensure safety and
efficient flow of traffic were ignored.
Traffic in Metro Manila is congested and it hinders the free flow of traffic. Numbers of
vehicles in the roadway is the major contributor to congestion. On the other hand, it is also
chaotic. Average drivers are not disciplined, they don’t feel bound by the laws or rules of the
road. Behaviors shown by people are repeated at many points across Metro Manila roadways
almost every day. It disrupts the flow of traffic and became the cause of congestion and also
chaos which we now accept as a normal thing.
