The student writer outlines common reasons why many students hate mathematics. They see it as boring, stressful, and difficult. They may transfer negative feelings about a strict math teacher to the subject as a whole. While the writer once loved math, they now find it stressful and it affects them negatively. However, the writer believes math is important in daily life and offers tips to focus on lessons and keep an open mind.

I know by myself that Mathematics is not the kind of subject that
everybody likes. Well, for me, it is the subject that most of the student hates the most. Why? We know that we, students, always love things that stimulate us, which are fun and exciting to do. A lot of our fellow students however do not feel the same way about mathematics as they see mathematics as boring and stressful. This makes them to avoid mathematics at every cost. They think that Mathematics is such a hard subject and that makes them hate it a lot. Another reason for me is the student-teacher relationship. This is the e9xperience of my friends when we were still in elementary. Teachers in charge of Math sometimes have negative and strained relationship with their students. Maybe the teacher is naturally strict or the student is hating the teacher for no reason. The hate of the teacher by the student is subsequently transferred to the subject which is Math. Well, these things for me are the common reasons why a lot of student hates Math. To tell you, I really love Mathematics when I was still a young child. I don’t know why, but as the time goes by, I realized that my love for math is slowly fading because it always makes me stressed and the stress that I feel affects me in real life. But I always keep on my mind that I should not hate this subject because Math is always involved in our daily living and we can’t live without Math. Most of the student agrees that learning Math can be difficult, but some students believe that Math is important and some people believe that it’s not. Well, Math is important for three reasons: Math is everywhere, we students’ needs Math, and God created Math. We just need enough patience to solve the problems like the quadratic equation. This topic in Math is one of my favorite topics because it is easy but challenging to solve. My tip is you only just need to focus on your teacher when he/she teaches you the topic and keep it in your mind always. Hope I helped you with this open letter!
