Film Mechanics:
1. Each class will be divided into three movie
production teams. Each team shall produce a 10-15
minute movie script with action-fantasy as its
theme and must show the culture of the Filipinos.
The movie must also contain issues learned in their
Media and Information Literacy subject like Libel,
Piracy and others.

2. Film production should follow basic

cinematography elements of frame creativity,
lighting, audio, and plot and character
 development. Refer to the assignment mechanics
for more information.

3. Film production should incur minimal to no

cost.

4. The film should include two or more of the

following cinematic elements:

 Action – The movement of the character (s) flows

from one shot into the next. Fast editing and a
variety of angles and camera movements
establish the pace of the sequence. A mix of close
up shots keep the audience close to the action,
while wide shots establish location.
 Dialog – Cut from one character to the next as
they talk and react. This “shot – reaction shot”
editing can be used to show one person looking
intently at an object as well.
 Cross-Cutting – Two stories are occurring at the
same time in different places. Cut between them.
 Flashback – A character in the present flashes
back to something in the past. It can be just a few
shots or glimpses, or a full scene. Another version
of this is a “flash forward,” which could be a
character daydreaming about what could be.
 Voiceover Narration – We see the world from a
character’s point of view and hear their “inner
monologue” as they comment on the world or
 tell their story. They can be commenting on what
is happening right then, or their past. They are
speaking directly to the audience. Or, the
Narrator can be omniscient and anonymous – a
commentator taking us through the story.

Create a written movie proposal containing the

following information:
a.Movie premise or plot: Summarize plot
structure including potential characters and
story conflict in 3 – 5 sentences.
Example:

The magical world of "Samadhi" is threatened

by the evil forces of Ravenal and Sifu sends out
three teenage boys to journey on the Magic
Temple. Jubal, Sambag and Omar, each with
 their own unique power battles the threat to
the world of "Samadhi" and along the way
faces many extraordinary things. The boys are
sure to face a huge battle ahead of them but
with the help of magical creatures they met
along their journey, evil is eliminated and they
learn the true value of camaraderie and
believing in them selves to face any problem.

Meng Fu Yao, a woman born from a divine lotus

petal. She journeys through the five continents
towards the heavens in search of a secret order
and to reveal a conspiracy originating from the
heavens. In the process, she falls in love with
the crown prince Zhangsun Wuji.

Two students share a taxi on their way home

when the driver turns out to be a kidnapper
and took them to a secluded place. They have
to outsmart the kidnapper and work together
in order to survive.

b. Movie setting: Describe the location and

time of the story.

place with lots of shrubbery and high weeds
sometime around 5PM in the afternoon before
dark.
c. Theme: Describe the subject or theme explored
in the story.
Example: The movie will tackle the theme of
corruption and revenge.
