I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:

A. Identify signal words used in arranging events chronologically.

B. Arrange ideas/events logically through group activities.

C. Show teamwork and cooperation through participating in group activities.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Sequencing Events/Ideas

Reference: English 7 CG

Materials: laptop, projector, paper strips, pictures

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preparatory Activities (15 minutes)
1. Opening prayer
2. Greetings
3. Classroom management
4. Checking of attendance
5. Motivation

Show the picture to the pupils.

Ask:

 Where will the children go?


 What do you think will they do there?
 Have you experience going on a hike?
 Who can share his/her experiences?
 What do you think is the title of our story today?
 What do you want to know about hiking?

B.Developmental Activities/ Lesson Proper

1. Activity (5 minutes)

Read the story.

Going on a Hike

Has anyone told you that hiking is good for your health? Well, it is. Before you go on an adventure, read these steps for a safe and enjoyable trip. First, decide on
a nice sunny date and place for you hike and plan your trail. Beforehand, pack a light shoulder bag with a simple first-aid kit, a camera, if you wish, packed lunch,
extra shirt, and a waterproof jacket. Above all, wear thick-soled comfortable pair of shoes. On the day of your hike, check the weather report and dress

accordingly. Before leaving your house, tell someone where you intend to go. Then, go on a hike! Finally, along the way, observe the trees, plants, animals, and
even the clouds.

2. Analysis (10 minutes )

Ask them to read on these sentences.

3. Abstraction (5 minutes)

Ask:

 What word clues help you in arranging the events in order?


 Were you able to arrange the events in order?
 Why were you able to rearrange easily the events in order?
 What do you think is the act of arranging events in correct order?

Then, discuss the topic.

4. Application (Groupwork) ( 15 minutes)

Let them watch the story, The Lion and the Mouse. Then, arrange by group the events chronologically.

The lion got angry and wanted to kill the mouse.

A mouse ran across the lion’s nose.

A lion lay asleep in the forest.

Soon the lion was free.

The lion let the mouse go.

The poor mouse begged and promise to repay the lion someday.

The mouse gnawed the ropes until it parted.

The mouse heard the lion’s voice.

The lion roar angrily because he cannot free himself.

The lion was caught of a hunter’s net.

IV. ASSESSMENT (Oral) (5 minutes)

Arrange the stages in the life of a butterfly. Refer to the sentence clues below.

The life stages of a butterfly

First, the butterfly lays its eggs in the leaves.

Second, the eggs are hatched and become a caterpillar or larva.

Then, the caterpillar form into a pupa or chrysalis.

Lastly, when the caterpillar is done changing, a butterfly comes out.

IV. ASSIGNMENT (5 minutes)

Read and understand the following sentences. Arrange them in a logical order to make a story. Rewrite them in paragraph form. Give a title to your paragraph.

 They become nymphs and live underwater.


 After a few days, the eggs hatched.
 Finally, they become full-grown dragonflies.
 First, the dragonfly lays egg on the water.
 As the nymphs grow, they shed their skin many times.
