Millenials
Have you ever thought about how the period of time when you were born,
influence your thoughts and behaviors? Similar to one’s personality
providing a generalized overview of their thoughts and behavior,
generational differences can help us understand human thoughts and
behavior at a group level.

Who are the millenials? Based on my research, Millenials, also known as

Generation Y, are the demographic cohort that directly follows Generation
X. The term Millenials is usually considered to apply to individuals who
reached adulthood around the turn of the 21st century. Like all generations,
there is no definitive beginning and end; it is the social and cultural
circumstances of a times period which defines it. Millenials have been
characterized in a number of different ways. Millennials can be the most
narcissistic, lazy, entitled, coddled, distrustful, and disconnected. Or the
most diverse, tolerant, connected, educated, and idealistic generation ever.
But surely, they are generally regarded as being more open-minded, and
more supportive of gay rights and equal right for minorities.

So one of the most asked question about millenials is what makes them
different from the previous generation? One factor that can answer this
question, is the different mindsets. Generation X grew up in different times.
In times where survival is the main concern, children at a young age prefer
to do work than to go to school and study, because at a young age, they have
seen how hard life is. They prefer to battle poverty with physical hard work
and earn money. While Generation Y is different, they grew up in the
information age and worldwide instant connectivity. Because of that
connectivity, they are more aware of how other people battle with their
hardships. Because of this knowledge, they are more inspired and motivated
to value education and thought of it as a way for them to reach lifelong
success.
In conclusion, Generation X and Generation Y have lived in different times
and different circumstances, nobody can ever judge the choices and opinions
they made in the past, for no one in the Generation Y have lived the way
they lived before. While young people have many flaws--such as a lack of
tolerance, they are also intelligent, motivated, and savvy than most people
realize. Millennials are living and breathing the change in our society. They
embody our human evolution and are the driving force of our economy. We
can only admire the beauty of this diversity, embrace the benefits in our lives
and get prepared for the future.
