Water Quality Analysis and Pollution Load Capacity in Botokan River, Sidoarjo
The diversion of land functions as industrial activity has a potential to reduce
quality of the waters as the recipient body of liquid waste disposal. The Botokan River is a river that has been polluted due to liquid waste from the paper industry. This study to analyze the condition of water quality and the pollution load capacity in the Botokan River, Sidoarjo. Analysis of river water quality is compared with Class II of Quality Standards in accordance with PP No.82 of 2008. Analysis of the pollution load capacity is obtained from the difference between the concentration of river water quality standards with measured pollutant load concentrations. The parameters used are temperature, TSS, pH, BOD, COD, and DO. Sampling in this study used the grab sampling method conducted at three stations, S1 was the point before the input of industrial waste, S2 was the point of input industrial waste, S3 was the point after the input of industrial waste. The results of the analysis is showed that temperature, TSS, and pH parameters still met water quality standards, while BOD, COD, and DO exceeded water quality standards. Analysis of the pollution load capacity is carried out in S3. TSS parameters still meet the capacity with a concentration of 120.232 kg/day, while the BOD and COD parameters have exceeded the capacity with each concentration of -156.420 kg/day and -394.889 kg/day. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the pollutant load that enters the Botokan river.
