Umali took of his do or die three


point

Christian Umali grabbed the limelight as


he took his do or die three point shots with five
seconds left to carry the Marinduque National
High School ( MNHS ) thrilling victory against
Landy National High School ( LNHS ) in a Men's
basketball championship, 65-64 during in the
Boac covered court yesterday.

Watched by throng of sports enthusiasts


with no less than Sta.Cruz,Marinduque Mayor
Wilfredo Red both teams slowly as they both ran
in maze of turnovers in the opening salvo.

Landy National High School balsted 10-


run with less than two -minutes left to seal the
lead , 28-27 as the buzzer sounded in their
whirlwind game .

In the second half, LNHS heated the


arena when they zoomed a dizzying 8-2 run
choking and leaving MNHS gasping for breath

two-timer MVP Umali got his monomentum and
fired three successive bull's eye three-pointer shots
to turn the score upside-down , 60-59.

Earl Romero switched-on the


adrenaline of his camp by carrying LNHS on that
crucial moment and tying the game 62-all with
10 seconds left.

Kim Carena fished out a foul from


beleagurered Simon Cabrera with seven seconds
left and hardened LNHS lead , 64-62.

But MNHS hero Umali shook off the


cobwebs and took his do - or die three
pionter shot that shatteredeuphoric students of
LNHS. the rival's of hope bringing the crown , 65-
64.

" They are exellent player,too" ."Perhaps


we are just lucky to win this game", said Umali the
star of the game .
