- Your background and/ or interests that make you competitive for this workshop, and
how do you think yourself as a leader. (No more than 250 words)
Answer :
I have a strong interest in environmental issues, as I have served in two national
organizations: The head of community service, the environment, the nation and the
country Permadani Diksi Nasional and The head of the chemistry department of
IKAHIMKI. However, so far has not implemented the project about the environment due
to lack of understanding as well as adequate experience. In addition, I also have a social
project in the form of making bags from plastic waste glass beverages in the village of
telago limo as one solution in overcoming disposable plastic waste in the mainland, but I
do not have any knowledge in started. Therefore I am interested in participating in this
workshop in the hope of opening my thoughts that will move the members of
organizations and communities that I follow to be more concerned about the
environment, especially marine debris because being a leader is a dream and must
everyone in all the actions we do.

- In your opinion, what is the biggest challenge that your country is facing in terms of the
waste management and how is the best solution regarding to the challenge? (No more
than 200 words )
Answer:
The biggest challenge in waste management is in the handling of non-environmentally
friendly plastic waste. Science Learn describes, in good shape with high density,
polyethylene which is one type of plastic takes more than 20 years to decompose.
Conditions in Indonesia is then exacerbated by the estuarine plastic waste in the ocean,
thus making the plastic island that floats. Research from Jenna R Jambeck and his team
published in Science Magazine said, Indonesia ranks second largest in the world in terms
of plastic waste production in the ocean with a range of 0.48 to 1.29 million metric tons
high. Therefore, there is an effort to reduce the use of plastic bags. One of them by
replacing it with other bags that can be used repeatedly. Subsequently, the application of
the official paid plastic bags is enforced by the government through the Ministry of
Environment and Forestry (KLHK) in accordance with the Directorate General of Waste
Management, Waste and Hazardous Materials Ministry of LHK No. S.1230 / PSLB3-PS /
2016.

In addition, the reduction of plastic waste can be done by:

Substitution of raw materials - replacing the ingredients / ingredients of the product with
easy recycled materials, does not require much energy.

Waste reduction - reducing the number of products or packaging, thus reducing the
amount of waste per unit of production.

Extended life cycle - extending the life of the product and its components can reduce
waste generation.

- What do you think you can do to encourage policy makers to make changes to protect
the environment in your home country? (No more than 125 words)
Jawab :
I will fully support the established environmental policy at the start of myself, my friends
and the environment of the organization and society. We believe that everything positive
must begin with ourselves. The proverb says to be a clear spring, meaning that if your
confusion is good then the surroundings will also be good, as well as in the
implementation of the policy. In addition, the organization I lead is linear with the
confusion certainly requires me to fully support the policy through work programs
implemented for the society.

- Are you interested in learning about United States and ASEAN? Why? (No more than
75 words)
Answer:
I am enthusiastic when I hear the word “US” because of developed countries and world
role models in any sector, such as education, education system that emphasizes the
development of individual characters, leadership and fight group thinking. So that the
learners become more reliable to the technology and have an open mind. Then I am also
interested in hearing the word ASEAN, because the cluster of countries in ASEAN have
the same character and culture, the same vision and mission the same and the same point
of view. This makes me to learn more about the important sectors in each ASEAN
country, the challenges and obstacles that will come and the policies that can be used as a
reference in promoting it in the future

- What do you think you can do to transfer the knowledge and experience from the
workshop to your friends, colleagues, and institutions? (No more than 100 words)
Answer:

In my opinion, how to apply something to be gained by doing it directly starting from
ourselves, for example about waste processing, we must familiarize ourselves to sort and
dispose of garbage in accordance with the place. After that we campaign in social media
related to the importance of waste management and also in the organization environment,
for example the organization that I lead the national Dedicated Tapestry in the field of
Community Service, the confusion of the nation and state.

- How do you expect the lessons learned from the workshop to affect you personally and
professionally? (No more than 100 words)
Answer:
Being part of this workshop made me understand related to the steps of garbage
management and the procedure of applying the project to be done. It also makes me learn
more related to the application of projects that are done together, communicate
effectively, and build wider relationships.

- If you get funding to do a community project related to waste management issues, what
will you do? (No more than 200 words)
Answer:
I will do social projects in the form of “Plastic Waste Utilization of Glass Drinks as
Baskets and Bags To Increase Community Revenue In Telago Limo Village, Jambi,
Indonesia”. Backed by the large volume of waste in the mainland, especially disposable
plastic waste, and on the other hand the creative economy that holds a strategic position
in the economic development of Indonesia. The expected outcomes of the establishment
of a clean Telago Limo Village and increased population income, as well as the
establishment of Small and Medium Micro Enterprises (UMKM). Project implementation
begins with preparation stage, socialization stage and stage of cadre formation and
organizing in the form of team of raw material suppliers, product and marketing,
implementation and work direction consisting of empowerment, product and marketing,
and the last stage of evaluation. This project was implemented in October-December
2018 involving the organization I lead.
