ABSTRACT
Low Birth Weight (LBW) means an infant wich born less than 2.500 grams, is
one of the main factor that influence to perinatal and neonatal death. According
to WHO (World Health Organization) 2012, Low Birth Weight (LBW) prevalence
was estimated 15% of entire birth in the world and most of them are in develop
country. As we know that number of the infant’s death in Indonesia is highest in
ASEAN Countries. Based on Health Department (Riskesdas) in 2013, Low Birth
Weight (LBW) Prevalence in Indonesia is 10,2%. Based on Health Profile of West
Sumatera Province in 2014, Sijunjung Regency is in the top rank on Low Birth
Weight (LBW) case and the most in West Sumatera with 4,2%. The aim of this
research is to know the Relation of Mother’s age and parity Low Birth Weight
(LBW) in Sijunjung Regional Public Hospital in 2015.
This research method is analitic descriptive by using cross sectional
approach. This research did from August 2016 till July 2017 in Sijunjung
Regional Public Hospital. The population in this research are the entire of born
mother in Sijunjung Regional Public Hospital in 2015 with 198 respondents and
the samples are 138 respondents by using concecutive sampling in samples
obtainbing technique.
Result of this research shows that amount of mother with age less than 20
(<20) and more than (>35) utter Low Birth Weight (LBW) infant is 29,8%. This
analisys result for 2 variables by Chi Square test shows that there is a meaningful
relation between mother’s age with Low Birth Weight (LBW) which p= 0,00.
Amount of mother who has parity 1 and <3 utter Low Birth Weight (LBW) infant
about 29%. The analisys result to 2 variables by using Chi Square test shows that
there is a meaningful relation between mother’s age with Low Birth Weight
(LBW) case which p= 0,00.
In conclusion, mother’s age and parity influence the Low Birth Weight
(LBW). So, it is necessary to increase the more intensive elucidation by midwifery
either in policlinic and hospitalized.
