Unit 3, Activity 1, Listening Comprehension

Audio Script

A: We’re talking today with Frank Pascal about his family. Thank you, Frank, for taking the
time to talk with us today.

B: Thank you! It’s my pleasure.

A: So Frank, you’re from France originally, right?

B: That’s right! My family lives in France, in Normandy. But I live in the U.S. now.
A: So, how many brothers and sisters do you have in all?
B: I have one brother and two sisters.

A: Well, that’s a pretty big family, isn’t it?

B: In France it is!

A: Frank, let’s talk first about you and your brother. What’s his name?
B: Philippe.
A: Philippe. Does he look like you?

B: Not really. He’s a lot taller and bigger than me, and he has blond hair. My hair is brown.
A: Is that all?

B: And he wears glasses. I don’t.

A: How about the work you do…similar or different?

B: Quite similar, actually. Philippe studied as a teacher, and so did I. And today,
we both still work in education.
A: How else are you alike?
B: Well, we both like rock music. But neither of us likes really loud music.
Both of us are big basketball fans…and soccer. And we both play basketball too!
A: Anything else?
B: Our personalities are pretty similar. We both enjoy humor. He likes to joke and laugh a lot…
and so do I.
A: And, how are you different?
B: Well, I like to read books. But he reads newspapers and magazines mostly. Also, Philippe
likes French movies, and I prefer American movies.
