3.0 CLARIFICATIONS
Assumptions/ Clarifications:

1. We have considered pipe length, valves, flanges from the doc. “eeP4045ZOR-
MR-EL-CM-008_O_APPENDIX B(0)” provided with the RFQ documents.

2. Please note that in absence of quantities of supports, we have not considered

any heating cable and accessories for them.

3. Please note that we have considered only ETR lines provided in the doc.
“eeP4045ZOR-MR-EL-CM-008_O_APPENDIX B(0)” in our scope.

4. Please note that as per MR doc. “P4045ZOR-MR-EL-CM-008_O” (clause no. 2.2),

we have considered self-regulating heating cable in our design.

5. Please note that we have considered -3Deg.C./ 50Deg.C as minimum/ maximum

ambient temperature in our design.

6. Please note that we have design our system on 220V AC single phase voltage by
considering ±5% negative tolerance.

7. Please note that we have considered operating temperature as maintain

temperature in our design.

8. Please note that there are some pipelines whose operating temperature are not
given, hence for these lines we have not considered any heating cable and
accessories for them. Please provide the operating temperature (highlighted with
“data required” in the design sheet) so that we include these lines in our scope
of supply.

9. Please note that we have considered Mineral Wool insulation material as per doc.
“P4045ZOR-00-10-98-006_O”.

10. Please note that we have considered insulation thickness provided in the
Appendix-A of doc. “P4045ZOR-00-10-98-006_O”.

11. Please note that in absence of details of instruments or vessels, we have not
considered any heat tracing cable and accessories for them.

12. Please note that there are some pipelines whose design/ exposure temperature
is not given, hence presently we are assuming that all these lines are having
design temperature of 90Deg.C, therefore we have considered KSX type self-
regulating heating cable in our design.

13. Please note that in order to further optimize the design and to make cost
effective proposal, we have utilizes the three phase circuits also in our design. In
3 phase circuitry, 4core power Cables need to be installed from Power
distribution panel to each individual field junction box mounted in the field, close
to heat traced pipe lines & 03 pipe mounted single phase power junction box
(ZP) will be fed from each field junction box.

14. Please note that we have considered 3nos. power distribution panel suitable for
outdoor installation and 1no. power distribution panel suitable for indoor
installation in safe area as per MR doc. “P4045ZOR-MR-EL-CM-008_O” (clause no.
2.3).

15. Please note that we have considered additional 6nos. outgoing feeder for heat
tracing of metering skid in indoor safe area distribution panel. Please refer bill of
material for the same.

16. Please note that there are many pipelines in the P&ID’s which are shown as ETR
lines but they are not mentioned in the line lists, hence in absence of details of
these lines we have not considered them in our design and hence not considered
any heating cable and accessories for them.

KSX™ SELF-REGULATING HEATING CABLE

APPLICATION
High performance KSX self-regulating heating cables are 2
designed specifically for high heat loss freeze protection
applications or process temperature maintenance where
steam cleaning is not required.
The heat output of KSX cable varies in response to the 3
surrounding temperature by reducing its thermal output
with increasing temperature.
KSX cables are certified for use in ordinary (nonclassified) 4
areas and in potentially explosive atmospheres in
accordance with the ATEX Directive and the IEC Ex
Scheme.

Notes
1. Maximum circuit lengths shown are based on an instantaneous trip current
characteristic per IEC 60898 at the referenced start-up temperature and a
10°C maintenance temperature. For maximum circuit lengths with other trip
current characteristics contact Thermon.
2. While a heat tracing system is generally designed to keep the contents of
a pipe at the desired maintain temperature, the cable may be energized at
lower temperatures. For design data with lower start-up temperatures than
represented above contact Thermon for design assistance.
3. The maximum circuit length is for one continuous length of cable, not the
sum of segments of cable. Refer to CompuTrace® design software or contact
Thermon for current loading of segments.

TCM18 CONTROL AND MONITORING MODULE TCM18 COMMUNICATION

The TCM18 is a multicircuit microprocessor-based temperature The TCM18 has two RS485 ports which communicate via
control and monitoring module developed specifically for heat Modbus ASCII or RTU protocol. One port can communicate to
tracing. This module provides control and monitoring capabilities TraceView Network Explorer or to compatible DCS system. The
via digital information display for a maximum of eighteen heat trace second port is provided for an auxiliary RS485 communication to
circuits. This module can be configured for either process sensing an optional Ethernet or wireless communication module.
control (with either one or two RTD inputs for
each circuit) and/or ambient sensing control (with
the option of one or two RTD inputs).
The TCM18 provides circuit information and
programming capability through the LCD digital
display and a dedicated touchpad on the front
of each module.

PTD 100 Ex d RTD Probe

Application
The PTD-100 probe is specially designed to improve
the measuring accuracy between control input sensors
and controllers. The probe is designed to avoid the use
of zener barriers between sensor and controllers in
installations where the sensor is located in a hazardous
area and the controller in a safe area.
The probe can either be connected in an Ex e or Ex d
junction box and is suitable for use with Thermon’s
TC8165 or other electronic controllers.

Cable Testing Report
1. Refer to these Installation Procedures for general installation procedures, requirements and guidelines.
2. Upon receiving heating cable, check the cable to make sure the proper type and output have been received. All flexible
cables have the catalog number, voltage rating and watt output printed on the outer jacket.
3. Visually inspect cable for any damage incurred during shipment. The heating cable should be tested to ensure electrical
integrity with at least a 500 Vdc megger between the heating cable bus wires and the heating cable metallic braid.
IEEE 515 and EN-IEC 60079-30 recommend that the test voltage for polymer insulated heating cables be 2500 Vdc.
Minimum resistance should be 20 megohms.
(Record 1 on Insulation Resistance Test Page 9 and 10)
A. Connect the positive lead of the megger to the cable bus
wires.
B. Connect the negative lead of the megger to the metallic braid.
C. Energize the megger and record the reading. Readings
between 20 megohms and infinity are acceptable. Readings
below 20 megohms may mean the electrical insulation has
been damaged. Recheck the heating cable for physical damage between the braid and the heating element; small cuts or
scuffmarks on the outer jacket will not affect the megger reading unless there was actual penetration through the braid
and dielectric insulation jacket.
4. Once the installation is complete, but prior to installation of thermal insulation, recheck the heating cable with at least a
500 Vdc megger between the heating cable bus wires and the heating cable metallic braid. IEEE 515 and EN-IEC 60079-30
recommend that the test voltage for polymer insulated heating cables be 2500 Vdc. Minimum resistance should be 20
megohms. (Record 2 on Insulation Resistance Test Page 9 and 10)
5. After the thermal insulation is installed, the insulation resistance test should be repeated. Minimum resistance should be 5
megohms. (Record 3 on Insulation Resistance Test Page 9 and 10.) For Series Heating Cables, measure the electric loop
resistance and record measured Ohms (Record 3, Page 10.)
6. After the thermal insulation is installed and power supply is completed, record the panel and circuit breaker information.
Ensure all junction boxes, temperature controllers, cable glands, etc. are properly secured. Set the temperature controller
(if applicable) to the manual setting and apply rated voltage to the heat tracing circuit(s) for 5 minutes. Record the ambient
temperature, measure and record the circuit(s) voltage and current.
(Record 4 on Insulation Resistance Test Page 9 and 10)

NOTE: To ensure the heating cable warranty is maintained through installation, the testing outlined
on this sheet must be completed on the installed heating cables.
