The Smart Mousedeer

One day, Sang Kancil kicked a scarecrow. ‘Help! My foot is stuck!’ shouted Sang Kancil. When the
mousedeer was trying to pull out its foot, the farmer appeared.
The farmer caught Sang Kancil and put him in a chicken coop. He said, ‘Ha! Ha! Ha! I shall have
mousedeer stew for dinner tonight.’
‘What are you doing in the coop, you silly mousedeer?’ the farmer’s cat laughed.
Sang Kancil said, ‘I’m just resting here. The farmer’s cooking a meal for me.’ The mousedeer told
the cat to exchange places with him.
‘That’s a great idea!’ agreed the cat. So they exchanged places and Sang Kancil managed to escape
from the coop.
