Reflection on: Steve Jobs The Movie

Behind every success is hundreds of thousands of failure.

The story revolves around why Steve Jobs became the person he is known for.
Macintosh, otherwise known as MAC, at its launch, was not very impressive. The device
was brilliant and it cost a fortune to avail one. At that time, its projected sales were
completely exaggerated because after its launch, devices were sold but nowhere near
90,000 units. Even when the device was exceptional, not many minds think so.
However, it was different for Mr. Jobs. He was thinking differently. He knew his vision
was right – that it would, someday, be the world’s leading personal computer. And the
fact is, today, Apple devices are the leading devices in the world. It is the best in
technology. Yes, the road to leaving a mark that will last for centuries and continue for
the next generations was not anywhere near easy as to making the device to create that
road, but Mr. Jobs never gave in to his mistakes. Alongside Mr. Steve Wozniak, they
were able to create devices that now hold Apple a tough company to beat. “Tough” is
actually a huge understatement. But whatever Mr. Jobs had visualized while he was
making the Macintosh, he believed in it. His faith in it was the greatest, even after his
inventions. And he left a dent in history of which the world is forever thankful.
As an aspiring accountant, this movie boosted my will to never give up. I want to
journey on a similar road that Mr. Jobs went to. The road in accountancy is not as
smooth as the pay you’ll be getting when you finally become a professional. There have
been so many lapses, so many regrets, but one thing that I will never be sorry for is
taking this program. In the same way that Mr. Jobs believed in his vision, I believe that
one should never give up on the things they love. And Mr. Jobs loved making his
inventions. He believed in them and loved them so much that went through all of the
pain just for the world to share the same sentiment. Beside his failures in his devices,
he had one in his attitude. It is true, he was not as decent as his products, but he sure
made his products great enough to overshadow his flaws – one of which was being a
good father. Mr. Jobs, in my opinion, thought he was not fit to be her father. That what
she was looking for was something he had none to give. He kept at the back of his mind
that you cannot be both brilliant and decent at the same time and it took years before he
finally realized it was not too late to make things right. Even when it took long, it was not
a means to give up. As again, one should never give up on the things he/she loves, Mr.
Jobs did exactly just that.
Truly, something does not become great in a snap. I’ve learned in Philosophy
that a quality can be received in varying degrees. And Mr. Jobs knew in himself that he
was just not there yet. That the kind of level he had in mind was still nowhere near in his
reach. But, he knew someday he would get there and that the only way to get there was
to not stop with the mistakes, not do nothing, not don’t go through the struggle, not don’t
fight until you get there, and most definitely, not give up on the thing you want to
achieve the most!
