Lesson Plan in Teaching Word Stress

I. Objectives
At the end of the period 75% of the students should be able to:
A. Determine the correct stress of a word.
B. Utter the correct pronunciation of a word with its correct stress.
C. Show teamwork and cooperation through participating in the group activity.
II. Subject Matter
A. Topic: Word Stress
B. Reference: English In A New Perspective by Alfonso D. Perez pp. 148-149
C. Materials: Prepared Slides, Projector, videos that demonstrates the proper stressing in a
word and speakers.
III. Procedure
A. Preliminaries

B. Motivation
The teacher will present a video of a tutorial that teach the proper utterance of a word with
the correct stress of the word.
C. Presentation
1. Introduction of word stress and the types of word stress.
2. Identifying and familiarizing the correct utterance of a word with its correct stress.
3. Present some example of words with the different types of stress punctuation.
D. Drills/Exercises
Group Activity
The class will be divided into two groups. Each group will conduct a 5 minutes Jazz Chant
that promotes correct utterance of words with its correct stress. The teacher will be the one who
will provide the piece of each group.
