Basic Prices
The basic prices approved by the Central Provincial price committee 2015 are
used to prepare the BSR for the year 2015.
General Notes
The BSR is to be read in conjunction with the Standard Specification issued for
building work by the Institute of Construction Training and Development
(ICTAD), except where superseded by the notes or the descriptions in the
schedule.
Only those materials which are specially mentioned in the descriptions should be
used and should be the best quality material, confirming to the requirements of
the relevant standard. (SLS or BS)
All the materials & the quality of the material should be approved by the
Engineer, described in the agreement.
I
Following are the breakup of overheads,
TOTAL 10.0 %
Note: -
According to this analysis the maximum overhead mark up is 10%.
Additional overheads shall be added to the project preliminaries if
necessary.
II
Measurements of painting (Doors, Windows & Partitions)
Measurement of painting when both sides are painted shall be calculated by multiplying
the area of one side of the door, window or partition painted by the coefficients 1.25,
1.75, 2.25 and 3.00 as follows.
III
Imported Materials
When imported materials are allowed to be used, it should be approved by the Engineer
described in the contract agreement.
Aluminium works
a. All aluminium metal work shall comply with specification AA6063 T5 or BS 1474
of 1972 special attention should be drawn to the following details.
Alloy – 6063
Hardness – 71 – 81 Rockwell E
Temper – T5
Tensile strength – 155 N/sq.mm (minimum)
Anodizing Thickness– 10-15 Micron and should be confirmed to BS 3987 - 1974
P/Coating Thickness– 60-80 micron and should be confirmed to BS 6496: 1984
Sample should be approved by Engineer / Architect
Thickness of extrusions – 1.2 mm + 10% for windows & partition
Thickness of extrusion for door – 1.5 mm + 10 % door
b. The colour anodized finish shall be a coating of non fading and hard organic type in
dark Bronze colour (Lower limit) compatible with the colour used.
c. All extruded aluminium alloy sections shall be bronze anodized to a thickness 15–20
microns. The tenderer should furnish a manufacturer’s certificate that the anodized
finish complies with the specified micron content.
d. Screws used in the construction of frames shall be high tensile stainless steel or a
non-corrosive material compatible with aluminium.
IV
Waterproofing
For electrical cable sections given in BSR should be followed with table below

Method of Measurement
The Bill of Quantities have been generally prepared in accordance with principles of
the Standard Method of Measurements for Building works in Sri Lanka (SLS 573 1999)
I. These rates are included transport cost of sand, metal, steel, bricks up to average 10
km distance, when transport distance exceeds 10 km additional cost should be added
and has to be calculated as per the section (XIV).
II. Head transport rates given in BSR have to be referred to central provincial price
committee report 2015. However, considering site condition, Engineer can decide the
necessary Head transport.
III. This document to be used for Central provincial council buildings only.
VI. Additional rates should be prepared for any item deviate from the description or not
listed based on BSR analysis/work study.
