CROSSING BAYABAS NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

NEPTUNE ST., CROSSING BAYABAS, TORIL, DAVAO CITY

SCHOOL LEARNING ACTION CELL (SLAC)

ENGLISH DEPARTMENT
September 28, 2018 @ 10:30 am- 12:30 nn

Every day is an opportunity for us teachers to share with our diverse learners the
knowledge, learning, skills and experiences that would help and motivate them to grow as
better individuals.

On the other hand, we can’t give if we have nothing to share. As teachers, we should be
equipped and knowledgeable enough in order for us to grow and flourish in our profession.

In order for the teachers to be guided on what they are expected to know, to do and to
value the essence of their profession, Secretary Leonor M. Briones of the Department of
Education signed the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST) into policy through
DepEd Order No. 42, S. 2017 in August 2017. The policy states, among others, that the PPST
“shall be used as a basis for all learning and development programs for teachers.”

To give clear understanding about the “Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers”
or PPST, the teachers conducted their School Learning Action Cell last September 28, 2018 to
discuss and be clarified about it.

The session was formally opened by the singing of the Phillipine National Anthem and a
prayer. Editha Q. Cabahug , acting English Department Head gave her Welcome Address.

To have a clear understanding about the new Classroom Observation Tool, Mrs.Editha
Q. Cabahug presented a sample lesson through audio-visual presentation of the detailed daily
lesson log. Ma’am Patricia V. Mendiola, Master Teacher 1, and the English Rater shared her
observations, comments and suggestions as to how to apply and integrate the different KRA in
the DLP.

The Department Head Editha Q. Cabahug encouraged the teachers to submit their
schedules for classroom observations for the month of October. The session ended at around
12:30 noon.
