Teachers and School Heads in Early Language, Literacy, and
Numeracy (ELLN)

1. To follow up the improve teachers’ teaching knowledge, skills, values,


and attitudes in achieving quality performance towards capturing the
interest of students, this Three - Day District Training and Upskilling of
Key Stage 1 Teachers and School Heads in Early Language, Literacy, and
Numeracy (ELLN) which will be conducted in Lingayon Central School
function hall, Brgy. Lingayon, Alangalang, Leyte on August 16-18, 2022.

2. The seminar - workshop aims to:


a. To capacitate the key stage 1 teachers and school heads on the
pedagogies and strategies in teaching beginning reading and
assess the learner’s difficulties using the Phil IRI, EGRA, CRLA and
Numeracy Test.
b. Develop teachers to become competent, efficient, and effective by
improving their knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes to improve
quality academic performance of learners.
c. To prepare the teachers in the in-person classes in the incoming
opening of classes for the School Year 2022-2023.

3. Participants of this training are key stage 1 teachers and school heads.

4. Each participant is REQUIRED to be at the venue before 8:00 a.m. to


start the training-workshop on time.

THREE DAY DISTRICT-BASED TRAINING OF KEY STAGE 1


TEACHERS and SCHOOL HEADS IN EARLY LANGUAGE LITERACY
AND NUMERACY (ELLN)

OVERVIEW:

In the implementation of K to 12 Program, every teacher/ personnel are


expected to undergo an orientation/training on the K to 12 Program.

Corollary to this, Section 1 of Rule VIII, Book V in Executive Order No.


292, otherwise known as Administrative Code of 1987, contemplates that,
“Every official and employee of the government is an asset or resource to be
valued, developed and utilized in the delivery of basic services to the public.”

In order to formally respond to the clamor of teachers about how to


improve the performance of the key stage 1 learners in language, literacy and
numeracy, a three - day non-residential training and upskilling of key stage 1
teachers and school heads in language, literacy, and numeracy (ELLN) in the
district.

In lieu of the division call for school-based In-Service training (INSET),


the organizers of the INSET programs will be the district to maximize utmost
participation and collaboration of ideas of the participants and are tailored to
the needs of the teachers as well as the school system.

This will: 1) help promote the continuous improvement of the total


professional staff of the school system; 2) eliminate deficiencies in the
background preparation of teachers and other professional workers in
education; 3) keep professional abreast of the new knowledge; 4) release
creative activities; and 5) give much needed support to the teachers who are
entering a wider responsibility or a new field of work especially the new
teachers and old ones whose knowledge are already obsolete.

Hence this proposal.

TRAINING OBJECTIVES:

The Three - Day Non-Residential Training and Upskilling Of Key Stage 1 Teachers And
School Heads In Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (ELLN) in the District will enable
the participants to:

1. Improve their teaching strategies, techniques, and methodologies align


with the goals and objectives of the Department of Education.

2. Acquire knowledge and skills in all the competencies prescribed by the


DepEd especially the least learned skills to increase performance of the
learners Language, Literacy and Numeracy.
3. Develop positive attitude and values in the implementation of ELLN in
their respective schools.
