ACTIVITY REQUEST
III. Venue and Date of Implementation: Punturin Elementary School, Computer Laboratory
February 6-10, 2023
IV. Rationale:
In-Service Training (INSET) for public school teachers is one of the ways the Department of Education
to continuously equips teachers with new knowledge and skills for them to face the challenges in the
delivery of education. Now that education sector is facing one of its greatest challenges in history, training
our teachers to cope with these difficult times has been more imperative. Likewise, the ability of the teachers
to deliver high-quality instruction and learning in the classroom has been viewed as being maintained and
sustained through In-Service Training (INSET).
R.A No. 10533 otherwise known as The Basic Education Act of 2013 aims to ensure that the enhanced
basic education program meets the demand for quality teachers and school leaders, thus the DepEd in
collaboration with the academe, and other institutions shall conduct an In-Service Training (INSET) on
Content and Pedagogy. It aims to retrain current DepEd teachers to meet the content and performance
standards of the K to 12 curriculums.
Based from the result of the summary of Electronic Self-Assessment Tool(E-SAT) filled up by teachers,
it has been found out that the most common need are enhancing capacity on the use of computer literacy in
delivery of instruction and Teaching Pedagogy. Teachers mental health support is also need to continue
deliver quality basic education. With these reasons, Punturin Elementary School will conduct a five-day
school-based In-Service Training for Teachers (INSET), on face-to-face modality observing strictly the
minimum safety protocols.
The purpose of this activity is to enhance their teaching strategies, computer literacy and skills capacity
to promote student-centered learning. A mid-year review of Individual Performance Commitment and
Review Form (IPCRF) to give emphasis and technical assistance on the teachers need to meet their target at
the end of the school year. Teachers mental health and psychosocial support will also be tackled.
This activity supports the school Project “Enhancement and Game-changing Advancement for Globally
Competitive Educators (ENGAGE)” and the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan to capacitate
teachers with appropriate teaching and learning resources and processes to address the needs of the learners.
