Mary Ann Perez conducted an earthquake drill for her BSHM 1B course on risk management on April 8, 2019. The drill involved students hearing an alarm, ducking under tables to cover their heads during simulated shaking, then evacuating the building following predetermined routes to assembly areas where head counts were taken. Leaders ensured all students were accounted for and then an evaluation was conducted to identify any problems and ways to improve future earthquake drills.

ACTIVITY 10 EARTHQUAKE DRILL
ALARM RESPONSE EVACUATE
ASSEMBLY HEAD COUNT EVALUATION
What did I do?
We performed the earthquake drill. At first, we heard the siren , bell rang for 1 minute. Then, we duck, cover our head and hold the table. After the shaking we evacuate, following the pre- determined routes to the evacuation areas. We formed a line as we walk quickly to the assembly point at the designated evacuation area. The evacuees’ must be grouped together. Our team leaders checked us to make sure all evacuees were accounted for. Lastly, we wait at the assembly area until the evaluation of the drill conducted to identify problems encountered during the drill and how this can be corrected in future earthquake drills.
