Web Traffic

What is Web traffic?


Web Traffic is the total amount of data viewed, sent and received by
visitors on a particular website. Web traffic is generating when
people visit your webpages to receive quality content or
information.
The main aim of any website is to generate web traffic and later rank
it under Search Engine Optimization (SEO). When web traffic of a
website increases, it will automatically rank the website high. But too
much traffic can dramatically slow down all access to your website
which may hang your server or shut down your web services.

Types of Web Traffic


There are six different types of web traffic which include:
➢ Organic Traffic
➢ Direct Traffic
➢ Referral Traffic
➢ Paid Traffic
➢ Social Traffic
➢ Email Traffic

Organic Traffic

Organic traffic is a type of web traffic in which visitors visit your website using
certain search engines like Google or Bing. It is also called Unpaid traffic
because website do not pay for the traffic generated organically.
The organic traffic is the best result oriented of all web traffics which has 60%-
70% SERP success rate. So, the best way to generate organic traffic is to post
quality and relevant content on your blog regularly.

Direct Traffic
Direct Traffic is a traffic which is defined as web traffic that does not have a
referral to visit your website. It means that the visitor didn’t want to click a link
from another site to visit your page.
Thus, it is also known as Non-Referral traffic. In this traffic, visitors manually
enter the URL of the website or click on the bookmark link to see information.
But the impact rate of direct traffic is quite low on SERP (approx.20%).

Referral Traffic

Referral traffic is one of the most important web traffic where traffic occurs
when a visitor visits your webpage through a referral website. It is a method of
increasing a page rank in which people visit you through backlinks build in
different websites.
It is therefore called Inorganic traffic. Increasing referral traffic is not easy
because you have to first check the DA & PA of the referred websites to
confirm that the sites on which we have to build our backlinks are highly
ranked on SERP. Impact rate of this is 30%-40%.

Paid Traffic
In Paid traffic, the traffic generates from the result of Paid Advertisement via
Google AdSense or any other paid search platform. Paid traffic generates when
a visitor visits your website after you have paid for advertising promotions. In
this traffic, you have to only pay for each click on the ads that are hosted by an
ad platform. The impact rate on SERP of it is 0%.
Some common types of paid traffic are:

Social Traffic
Social traffic refers to the web traffic which comes to your website from
different social networking or social media sites. For ex. When a person clicks
on a post or a tweet and then comes to your website defines as a social web
traffic.
Social traffic increases your website sales and increase followers through social
media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. Its impact on SERP
is short term and of approx. 40%.

Email Traffic

Email Traffic as its name means web traffic that generates on your websites
through links contained in the emails that you send. The primary reason for
sending mails in email traffic is to persuade the customers prospects to buy your
products or services.
As compared to all, Email marketing is effectively increasing to increase website
traffic and enhance visitor’s engagement with your brand.
