DANCE SPORT MECHANICS AND GUIDELINES

1. A team shall be composed of have one (1) pair.
2. The maximum routine time limit is one (1) minute and a half (1/2).
3. Competing couple must be in proper attire with the assigned number
pinned at the back of the male partner.
4. A pair shall dance the following Latin Dances: CHA-CHA-CHA, TANGO
and JIVE
5. A pair shall have their own music for the individual; the management
shall provide for the group dance.
6. A pair shall wear a dance sport costume provided that it will not be
so daring. Each pair will be following the appropriate costume to be
worn. (Ex. Plunging neckline, low back, revealing too much of the
human body) All competitors must be dressed appropriately with the
following dress rules.
7. A group performance shall follow after the individual performance.
8. Lifts are not permitted in either category.
9. A lift is any movement during which one member of a couple has
both feet off the floor at the same time with the assistance of the
partner.
10. This contest is to be completed by the following:
Special awards to be given:
a. Best pair in Cha-Cha-Cha
b. Best pair in Tango
c. Best pair in Jive
11. The decision of the board of judges is final.

TIMING, MUSICALITY AND EXPRESSION- 25 %

POSTURE, SHAPE AND POISE- 20%

TOGETHERNESS, LINE HOLD BALANCE - 20%

FOOTWORK AND LEG POWER- 20%

INTANGIBLES- 15%
