Social enterprises are beneficial to the entrepreneurs and the community. It

creates societal impact in terms of social, environmental and financial aspects. Here are

some examples of social enterprises in the Philippines: Taclob, ECHOStore and First

Harvest. First, Taclob is a company that produces bags from upcycled materials, such

as jeans & shirts. Buying Taclob bags has a social impact because for each of the

backpacks sold, the company gives out a floating bag full of school supplies to students

who are affected by calamities. Second, ECHOstore is the first concept store of its kind

in the country. It offers everyday products such as cleaning products, body care and

food products. It creates an environmental impact since the products that ECHOstore

offers are natural and eco-friendly. Lastly, First Harvest is a Filipino brand which uses

natural and healthy ingredients to make their peanut butter. It creates a financial impact

because it employs women from Gawad Kalinga villages in Bulacan. The women are

involved in every process  from preparing the ingredients to labelling the jars. Indeed,

social enterprise is a business that is gaining while helping.
