A little about me…
-I graduated from the University of Illinois with a
Bachelors degree in Mathematics and a minor in
Secondary Education.

-Thisis my fifth year teaching. I taught high school for

2 years in Southern IL.

-I’m currently getting my Masters through Rockford

University.

-I am the sponsor of Math Team, Tech Club, and will be

What will your
child learn this
year in CCSS 7?
CCSS7 Unit 1: Ratios &
Proportional Relationships
•  Focus of this unit:
–  To apply concepts of ratio and unit rate to
fluently compute unit rates, represent
proportional relationships between quantities, and
compare & contrast proportional relationships in
real world contexts.
–  To solve problems involving such real world
contexts as percent of increase/decrease, scale
drawing, tip, discount, etc.
CCSS7 Unit 2:
The Number System
•  Focus of this unit:
–  To add, subtract, multiply, and divide
rational numbers fluently as well as solve
real-world and mathematical problems.
CCSS7 Unit 3:
Expressions & Equations
•  Focus of this unit:
–  To use their understanding of structure to
rewrite general linear expressions in equivalent
forms.
–  To apply their understanding of properties when
adding, subtracting, factoring, and expanding
expressions with and without context.
–  To read, write, interpret, and solve multi-step real
world and mathematical problems using algebraic
and numerical expressions, equations, and
inequalities.
CCSS7 Unit 4:
Geometry
•  Focus of this unit:
–  To reason about relationships among 2D figures
using scale and informal geometric constructions,
& gain familiarity with the relationships between
angles formed by intersecting lines.
–  To relate 3D figures to 2D figures by examining
cross sections.
–  To solve real-world and mathematical problems
involving area, surface area, and volume.
CCSS7 Unit 5:
Statistics & Probability
•  Focus of this unit:
–  To examine how selected data can be used to draw
conclusions, make predictions, and compare populations.
–  To develop a general understanding of the likelihood of
events occurring.
–  To develop probability models used to find the
probability of simple and compound events.
–  To determine from each sample space the probability of
different possible outcomes.
