Techniques of One-Man Carry:

1) Assist to Walk:
It is the method used when there is someone who has a minor injury or physically feels
weakness. He/she can still walk, but needs assistance.

Procedure:
First, you need to help the victim to stand. You have to place your knee on her back to let
her lean. Then hold her arms both side and put all your strength in your legs to be able to stand
with the victim. After you stand with the victim, just stay on her back and bring your one foot as
support at the back of her foot. Then, bring one arm over your shoulder. Grasp her wrist with
your one hand below the arm and place your other hand around her waist. After all of these, walk
slowly to your destination.

2) Lover’s Carry:
This is the method used when there is a victim who completely can’t walk. Here, there is more
serious injury.

Procedure:
First, if the victim is lying, put her in resting position. Second, go above her head and
place your hand under it to help her sit, then slowly help her. Next, you need to help the victim to
stand. You have to place your knee on her back to let her lean. Then hold her arms both side and
put all your strength in your legs to be able to stand with the victim. After you stand with the
victim, you have to kneel and let her sit on your knee. Then let her wrap her arms around your
neck and support her back using your one hand. Your other hand will give support to her legs to
be able to carry her. Then put all your strength in your legs to stand. After standing, slowly walk
into the destination.

3) Pack strap Carry:


It is the method where can be used with a conscious or unconscious victim.

Procedure:
First, if the victim is lying, put her in resting position. Second, go above her head and place your
hand under it to help her sit, then slowly help her. Next, you need to help the victim to stand.
You have to place your knee on her back to let her lean. Then hold her arms both side and put all
your strength in your legs to be able to stand with the victim. After you stand with the victim,
bring one arm over your shoulder. Slowly go in front of the victim and slightly pull her up onto
your back. Wrap her arms around your neck. Make use both of your hands to hold and support
her arms. Stand up and walk slowly going to your destination.
4) Fireman’s Carry:
Fireman’s carry is the commonly used for unconscious victims to bring away from danger
without the assistance of others.

Procedure:
First, if the victim is lying, put her in resting position. Second, go above her head and place your
hand under it to help her sit, then slowly help her. Next, you need to help the victim to stand.
You have to place your knee on her back to let her lean. Then hold her arms both side and put all
your strength in your legs to be able to stand with the victim. After you stand with the victim,
Squat down and let the stomach of the victim be above your back/shoulders. Let your one hand
support the back legs of the victim with holding also the hand of the victim in front of you. Make
balance of his body on both side to carry easily. Always put all your strength in your legs to
stand. Let your free hand to clear the way and pass easily.

5) Piggy Back Carry:


Piggy back carry can also be used for both conscious and unconscious victims.

Procedure:
First, if the victim is lying, put her in resting position. Second, go above her head and place your
hand under it to help her sit, then slowly help her. Next, you need to help the victim to stand.
You have to place your knee on her back to let her lean. Then hold her arms both side and put all
your strength in your legs to be able to stand with the victim. After you stand with the victim,
bring one arm over your shoulder. Slowly go in front of the victim and slightly pull her up onto
your back. Wrap her arms around your neck. If the victim is conscious, make use of your two
hands to hold and support her legs on each side. While if the victim is unconscious, make use of
your one hand to support her arms wrapped around your neck and the other hand to support one
of her back legs. Slowly stand and go to your destination.
