Public Market

"Public Market" refers to a place, building or structure or any kind owned and/or operated
by a city or municipality designated as such by their respective Sanggunians and dedicated to
the service of the public in general and where basic food items and other commodities are
displayed and offered for sale.

Kinds of Public Market

 Open Air Markets- temporary, operating one or a few times a week;


 Covered Markets- sheds or flexible indoor space

 Market Hall- indoor building with permanent stalls for vendors, and;

 Market districts - multi acre hubs of market-related activity including an indoor


market, mix of wholesale and retail usually- usually lots of food related businesses,
such as restaurants.

Redevelopment: (To develop again may or may not differently with different
resources.) Redevelopment of a space or architectural element means just doing the same
thing either with new technique or with the earlier one and at the same place the function
of the space is as it was earlier. Redevelopment is the demand of space and users associated
with it. This is an action to the medium of function.

Rationale

This development wishes to address the issues of safety, sanitation and problem
on space utilization to ensure effective functionality of the market. Well planned and
designed spaces accompany many benefits such as better market functionality, security,
higher income returns, and reduced congestion. It is to promote shopping convenience
and promotion of public health.

The study will allow the architectural solutions to elevate the unpleasant situations
and conditions of public market in the city.
