Absentee Policy
You were absent, but the world kept spinning.
 It is the student’s responsibility to check with me for their absent work.
 The student has two extra days to turn in any work assigned while the student was absent.
 If a quiz/test was administered during an absence, it may be made up on the first day the
student returns.
 If previously assigned work was due on the day of the absence, the work is due on the
first day the student returns.

Technology
Chromebooks and iPads may be used in the classroom on a weekly basis. Students will use
technology for educational purposes only. They will complete assignments on MyOn,
NewsELA, Kahoot, and on academic search engines for research. Students are expected to abide

Plagiarism
Plagiarism: Taking others’ ideas or works and passing them off as one’s own.
In this class we will be having writing assignments, and plagiarism will not be tolerated. Just to
be clear, in this classroom the following actions will be considered plagiarism, and will lead to a
zero being assigned for the work.
 Turning in another’s work as one’s own
 Copying work from a friend before class (or during another class)
 Failing to cite a source
 Copying an author’s exact words and passing them as one’s own.

Classroom Library
I have a classroom library of books on historical topics. Students are encouraged to check out
any books that may interest them. While I respect each family’s choice on what they want to
expose or protect their child from, that is ultimately a parent or guardian’s responsibility. Please
discuss these restrictions and preferences with your child. Teachers should be informed as well
so we can help guide your student in making book choices you are comfortable with.

These are my personal books, and I have gone to great lengths to keep them in good shape. I
expect my students to treat these materials with care and respect. Any lost or damaged item will
be the responsibility of the student to replace.
