WELCOME ADDRESS
Dear Guest of Honor, Prof. Victor M. Asuelo, Dr. Romeo c. Hofilena, and Sir Mendoza,
Distinguished school Principals, Friends, Parents, Old boys, Teachers, and Students, Good Afternoon
to every One.

On behalf of the school, I have great pleasure to welcome all of you to the 76th Anniversary
and Open Days inauguration Ceremony of SOUTHERN MINDANAO COLLEGE (SMC). It is a
day of rejoice because we will recall together a lot of touching stories we had experienced in SMC in
the last 76th years. It is also a day of our old boys, parents and friends to know more about the recent
and future development of the school. SMC boys have always been known as boys of diversified
capabilities and I am sure you will agree after your visit today.

The celebration of the 76th anniversary must be linked to Prof. Asuelo, Dr. Hofilena, and Sir
Mendoza who established the school around 1940. It is therefore our greatest honor to have
brothers like you sir. We must also express our heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Nede A. Bayawa who
is now in the stage right now, for helping to setting up the school a number of years ago and her
continuous support throughout the years. At the same time, the school wishes to thank the
representatives from our various stakeholders for their loyal and non-stop assistance to the
development of the school. They are Mr. Reggie Samonte, School Supervisor, Ms. Leodilisa
Tapic, Chairlady of PTA, Mr. Erwin Ligutom, Representative of SMCian Education Council, Mr.
Rodante Chang Jr., Chairman of 76th Anniversary Advisory Committee, Mr. Jomari Jill Gabica,
Chairman of 76th Anniversary Organizing Committee, Mr. Rhonel Lacandula, Chairman of Student
Association, and Mr. Arnel Pulmano, Decoration Committee.

In the past years, under the guidance of Our Brothers, the school follows a vision of touching
and carries out a mission of whole-person education. Our students are therefore nurtured in a
school environment of adequate knowledge-learning opportunities and are well prepared for serving
people and community. Today, the school feels warm because of the coming back of many people
including the some of the alumni of SMC. Many of them, especially those graduated in early years are
today leaders of different sectors in the community and their presence could give a lot of inspirations
to their younger brothers of today and tomorrow.

Finally, I would like to express my sincere thanks and congratulation to my brothers and
sisters of Southern Mindanao College (SMC).

Long Live SMC. Thank you.
