QIP Short Term Course On

“Fundamentals of Tribology”
During 07th – 11th October 2019
Introduction:
Tribology is study of contacting surfaces that are in relative motion. This course is aimed at giving
fundamental understanding on interaction between two surfaces from mechanics viewpoint and
understanding of friction and wear through materials response to contact stresses. The lectures will
be supplemented with hands on practical experimentation on different measuring instruments used
in tribology.
Whom the Course will benefit?
Faculties Teaching Tribology at Undergraduate/ Post Graduate Level, R&D Scientists Working in
Friction and wear.

Course Objective:
The courses will benefit faculties teaching Tribology at undergraduate/post graduate level and R&D
scientists working in Friction and wear. Participants are expected to have undergraduate degree in
mechanical engineering or allied subject.
