ESSAY

COMPETITION
Submission Guidelines

This competition will consider the depth and breadth of the submission.
Students have to follow the following guidelines:

• Single authorship only (Individual Essay)


• All previously published essays are ineligible (No Plagiarism)
• Essay is open to high school students year level X, XI, and XII (teacher
supervision allowed)
• School encouraged to submit more than one essay
• Essay should be 800(min) -1000(max) words (including footnotes and
appendices)
• Submission in Ms Word, A4 format, with size 12 Times New Roman font type
and 1.5 spacing
• Please include your name, year level, school name on each page of the essay
(it doesn’t count as essay’s content)
• Essay is to be submitted to rachel.tan@utas.edu.au at the latest 11.:59AM on
1st of September 2019.

Marking Criteria

1. The decisions of the judges are final and are entirely their own
2. Judges will look into quality of the analysis using data, facts, and knowledge
based on the issues viewed from economics and science-ecological and
originality thinking
3. Judging panel comprises of the distinguished academics from University
Tasmania, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Business and Economics
4. All finalist has to prepare 5 mins presentation of their essay on the Final
Presentation day according to the region for final.

Essay Timeline

15 August 2019 : Last day of registration


1 September 2019 : Last day of essay submission to be received
1 October 2019 : 6 Finalist announced per cities (Surabaya, Bandung and
Jabodetabek)
7 October 2019 : Finalist presentation and awarding ceremony in Surabaya
9 October 2019 : Finalist presentation and awarding ceremony in Bandung
11 October 2019 : Finalist presentation and awarding ceremony in Jakarta

Prizes for Each City

1st Prize : iPad Air + UTAS goods pack + AUD 500 Cash for school
2nd Prize : 150AUD Gift Card + UTAS goods pack
3rd Prize : 50AUD Gift Card + UTAS goods pack

All finalist will be given Certificate
