CREATIVE WRITING CONTEST


Wednesday, 28 September, 1PM

MECHANICS:
1. All Senior High School students are encouraged
to join the contest.
2. All essays must be done on the spot.
3. Essays must be in English.
4. Entries must have no less than 300 words.
5. The specific topic shall be given during the actual
competition.
6. The competition starts as soon as the specific
topic is given.
7. Essay must be non-fiction and follow the form of a short story.
8. Each participant is given two and a half (2.5) hours to finish the essay.
The participants must be informed thirty minutes prior to the end of the
competition to wrap up their essay.

ESSAY WRITING CONTEST

MECHANICS:
1. All Senior High School students are
encouraged to join the contest.
2. All essays must be done on the spot.
3. Essays must be in English.

5. The specific topic shall be given during the
actual competition.
6. The competition starts as soon as the specific
topic is given.
7. The essay must be non-fiction.
8. Each participant is given two (2) hours to finish the essay. The
participants must be informed thirty minutes prior to the end of the
competition to wrap up their essay.

ORATION & EXTEMPORANEOUS


SPEECH
Tuesday, 27 September, 1PM

MECHANICS:
1. This competition is open to the 31 sections of
SHS in Asian College.
2. Speech will be given August 15-19
3. No adviser contact will be allowed between
the time of receiving the speech and delivery.
4. The use of reference books and printed
materials during the presentation will not be
permitted. No materials or previously prepared notes will be allowed.
5. The contestants will speak before a panel of judges, timekeeper, and
event organizers.
6. The delivery will be judged according to mastery of the topic, quality and
use of voice, poise, bodily expression, correct grammar and pronunciation,
and directness which will impress the panel of judges.
7. No notes may be used during the speech.
8. The length of the speech will be no less than one (1) minute and no more
than three (3) minutes.

EXTEMPORANEOUS SPEECH
1. This competition is open to the 31 sections of SHS in Asian College.
2. Topics will be given on the actual day of the competition.
3. No adviser contact will be allowed between the time of receiving the
topic and delivery.

COMPETITION SEGMENTS

1. The competition is divided into three segments:


a. SUPREME NUTCRAKER31 STUDENTS
i. This is the opening segment of the competition where all
contestants will be shown pictures to interpret in one to
three minutes excluding one minute preparation time.
ii. From the segment, only ten will continue to proceed on the
second segment of the competition.
b. SUPREME BROKER15 STUDENTS
i. This is the middle segment of the competition where a
contestant must interpret a quote in one to three minutes
excluding one minute preparation time. The interpretation
must be clearly expressed to the panel of judges and the
audience of the competition.
ii. From this segment, only five will continue to compete on the
last segment of the competition.
c. SUPREME MASTERTOAST FINAL 8 STUDENTS
i. This is the final segment of the competition where a
contestant will pick a topic in a jar and express his/her
opinion whether he/she is agreeing or disagreeing. Same time
span will be given.

BOOK CHARACTERIZATION
#ReadAloud
Monday, 26 September, 1PM

MECHANICS:
1. Each section must have 1 representative
to join the Book Characterization
#ReadAloud.
2. Book Characterization is just like a
ordinary cosplay competition with a little
twists.
3. The Participants will do a characterization of sci-fi fantasy
characters, then, the characters MUST deliver an excerpt of the
characters they portrayed and that refers to #ReadAloud
4. During the Opening of the English Week the 31 Participants will
have presentation ramp of their costume. Then, on the afternoon
they will have their 1st Elimination of the #ReadAloud
5. Schedules of Competition:
a. 1st Elimination 26 September
b. 2nd Elimination 27 September
c. Final Round 29 September
6. The contest shall be judge according to the given criteria

SPELLING BEE

MECHANICS:
1. Each sections may provide 2 students who
will compete for the “SPELLING BEE”
2. This activity is just a particular spelling
activity that could test the knowledge of an
individual in unlocking their prior knowledge
about a certain spelling of a term.
3. This activity will also be divided into 3
rounds namely: Tranquil Round, Mediocre
Round&Insane Round
4. Each participants must provide an
illustration board covered by a plastic cover and a
marker or a mini white board
5. For each round, we’ll have 15 words.
6. The winners will be based on the over-all scores.

YODACHROME #PhotoJourn
Wednesday, 21 September,

MECHANICS:

*KODACHROME is a term synonymous to PHOTO. We


change it to YODA to sound like fantasy or somewhat
galaxy.

1. This activity is just not for professional


photographer. Mobile cameras, digital camera or
even DSLR camera can be used.
2. Each sections are required at least 1 or 2
entries who will join the contest “YodaChrome
#PhotoJoun.
3. Each participants could capture any
randomMOMENTS that depicts or shows the unity,
and the Core Values of Asian College during the
span of the English Month.
4. Each participants are required to print it in 4r size picture with a
written article about the picture.
5. They will submit it on their English Teachers printed on a Bond Paper
for Proof Reading purposes. After then, they will rewrite their article, placed
now in an illustration board for final exhibit and will be posted on the Facebook
page with a tagline #SpeakEnglish #LetYourVoicebeHeard@AsianCollege
6. The participants score will be based 60% on the Article Content and 40%
from the picture likes onFacebook.
a. The number of picture like will be tallied on or before 30 th
September.
7. The article shall be judged based on the following criteria.

MECHANICS:
1. This activity will have 10 group
participants. HOW?
2. Each 31 Sections will register via the
number of old CD’s they can provide.
Meaning the 1st 10 sections with the
highest number of provided old CD’s can be
part of the activity.

3. The activity itself is like the popular


television show/game #AMAZINGRACE

4. We have 6 stations, each station will


have a station masters who will give task to
the participants it may be a

a. Message Relay TOUNGUE TWISTER


b. Delivered Speech
c. Sing the ASIAN COLLEGE Hymn
d. Charades
e. Spelling Task
f. PinoyHenyo
5. After that they will be given another clue that will bring them to the next
stations, but the twist their the written clue is in the form of RIDDLE
a. Ex. “HEAL YOUR HUNGER” the answer is CANTEEN
6. Meaning the next station is canteen.
7. And upon proceeding to the next station they will again do a task
provided by the station master. For the first group who can do the tasks
completely and finish the race will win.
8. Each station master will be the one who will rate the participants. He/she
must have 2 assistants a.) Time Keeper b.) Recorder
9. The participant who will get the highest tally of point in each station will
be the winner.

SPEECH CHOIR
Friday, 30 September

MECHANICS:

1. After the launching of English Only


Policy the participants will be ready to the
speech choir competition.
2. The piece, “If I were a Voice by
Charles Mackay”, will be given to the
section, two (2) week before the Launching.
3. All of the 31 section will have an
elimination round on 13th of September. They
are not required to have a complete package
of costumes, etc. They will just present 2- 3
stanza with choreography.
4. After the 1 elimination round, 15 sections/participants can move

forward to the 2nd elimination round until they’ll become 8 participants,


which will be the Finalists on 30th September.
5. Eliminations & Final round shall be judged based on the following criteria.
