Golf Cart: Rules &

Regulations
Golf Cart Certification
 All members needs to be Golf Cart Certified. Duties may include
putting out/picking up road signs for events, private campus tours,
special requests or transporting materials.

 STEP 1: Complete Safe Driver Training Course and print certificate as well as the
Driver Authorization Form (must be typed before printing and submitting.) .

 STEP 2: Non-Licensed Vehicle Training will be added to your Moodle. Complete


and print certificate.

 STEP 3: Complete Non-Licensed Vehicle Safety Information Employee


Acknowledgement Form (must be typed before printing and submitting.)

 STEP 4: Complete Physical Golf Cart Driving Test and receive a certification card.

When Using the Golf-Cart
 Fill out the sign-out log with Michelle Shank when using golf-cart. We
must know when and who is using the golf cart at all times. Make sure
to specify which golf cart you are taking (8-passenger or the 4-
passenger.)

 Operators should make a careful effort to safeguard golf cart keys at all
times:
 8-Passenger: requires a key that must be safeguarded.
 4-Passenger: Although does not require a key, must be turned to
the off-position when not in use.

Operators Shall Not Drive:
✗ On University Avenue, North Oak Street or General Pershing
✗ In buildings or through the Student Union Mall (front of Union
facing D Vickers and the Library)
✗ You are not allowed to enter any breezeways (including the
breezeway of Fayard Hall or the breezeways of the Student
Union.)
✗ On the sidewalk between Campbell Hall and Student Union
Annex. (Doors open outward.)
✗ In the covered entrance of Pennington Center.
✗ Outside of campus grounds.
✗ Between dusk and dawn.

When Using the Golf-Cart
 Use perimeter sidewalks when at all possible, and do not drive on grass. Yield to
pedestrians at all time, and do not go off of the sidewalk into the grass to pass
them. You must stop and wait for all pedestrians to pass before driving.

 You must be seated at all times when in the golf cart. Do not stand on the back
rack.

 You cannot be talking or texting on your phone while operating the golf cart. If you
need to make a call, you must pull off to the side, turn off the switch and step out
of the golf cart before talking on the phone.

When Using the Golf-Cart
 When returning golf carts to the storage building on North Campus, you must make sure
the key’s ignition switch is in the off position, collect all belongings and plug in the
charging unit before leaving. Make sure BOTH doors are properly locked before leaving.
Return keys to inside bin and initial your return of the golf cart. (Do not initial log until the
golf cart has been properly put away. It will remain in your possession until it has been
parked in the storage facility.)

 University Police and/or Parking Office can issue citations for violations of the safety
policy.

 All accidents involving golf carts shall be reported to the supervisor, who will then report it
to the Safety Office.
