EXPERIMENT
OBJECT:-
To study the relation between A.C current “I” and capacitance “C” of different capacitors used in A.C
circuit. Also calculate capacitive reactance (Xc) for each reading.

APPARATUS:-
Five capacitors of different values, Step-down transformer (12V), A.C Voltmeter, A.C Millimeter,
Five one way keys, Connecting wires.

WORKING FORMULA :-

When a capacitor is connected across an A.C supply then,

I C , = Constant
The capacitive reactance “Xc” is given by
Xc =
Where f is the frequency of AC supply=50 Hz

OBSERVATION :-
Least count of ammeter = ------------ amperes
S.No Capacitance Current I Capacitive
(ampere) = constant Reactance

CALCULATION :- 1) Xc = = --------- Ω 2) Xc = = --------- Ω 3) Xc = = --------- Ω

4) Xc = = --------- Ω 5) Xc = = --------- Ω

RESULT :- The graph between I and C is a straight line showing that I α C

The graph between I and Xc is a curve showing that I α
