Types, purposes and thickness of drafting lines used in piping drawings shall be as
specified in the Table 1.
2.2 Letters
Arabic digits and alphabetical letters shall be inclined 75 backwards and their
style shall be of 2:1 proportion as shown below. These requirement need not be
followed if letters and digits are written by using stencil plates.
Example :
Alphabets AB C D E F G H I J

3.2 mm as shown below.
Example :
(4) Height of letters other than the above mentioned letters shall have of 3.2
mm as shown below.
Example :

3. DIMENSIONS
(3) Where the space between dimension lines each other is too narrow, the
figures shall be indicated staggered for easy understanding as shown (1) in
Fig. 4.
(4) Where it is impossible to indicate the figures on the dimension lines, the
indication shall be made by using arrow line, as shown (2) in Fig. 4.
(5) Where the dimension lines are to be given in a double row, detailed
dimensions shall be indicated inside (see (3) in Fig.4).
(8) Where the indication for the arrows of dimension line is difficult into the too
narrow space, "•" Marks may be used instead of the arrows. (See (4) in Fig.
4)
Example shown in Table 2 are the indication of plan drafting, the datum points for
piping components dimensions shall be as same as both elevation and isometric
drawing.
Note :
(2) Piping supports in plan drawing shall be indicated for their locations as per
the centerlines.
The indication of the north mark shall be as shown below. The north mark
shall be shown in the upper-left corners of drawings as a rule.
N : indicate the true north. (The thickness of the line shall be 0.8 1.0 mm)
The north mark has been printed as shown in Fig.7, (A) so that the
indication shall be made in addition shall be made in additional of arrow as
(B) or (C).
4.3.1 Details
Detailed figures shall have a title as shown below. DETAIL "A" VIEW "B-B"
SECTION "C-C" (Thickness of line : 0.5 0.8 mm)
Note : The letters "I" and "O" shall not be used for the titles of details, side views
and sections.
Note : The continuing piping drawing numbers shall be indicated on the outside of
the match line.
Note :
1. All Isometric Drawing shall be included to One Plan Drawing which has
youngest drawing no.
2. Each Isometric Drawing can be indicated on a few sheet where the line is
complicated. In case of that Match Line (M/L) should be at the welding point
or flange face.
Fig. 5 Match Line of Around Pipe Rack
Note :
1. The straight line under lower pipe rack shall be indicated to The Plan Drawing
of lower rack
3. Reference to next page for detail Match Line between Lower Rack Drawing and
Pump Drawing

5. INDICATION OF PIPING COMPONENTS
5.1 Pipe
5.1.2 Traced Piping (Hot water, Cold water, Steam and Electrical, etc.)
5.1.3 Hot Service Thermal Insulated Piping (The thickness of lines as per Table 1)
Note : For plan and side view, the cold insulated portion shall only be indicated.
Note :
(1) Thickness of line indication shall be as same thickness as the pipes having
16 in. NPS and larger, for external pipe and 14 in. NPS and smaller for
internal pipe which are given in Table 1 respectively.
gmb
(2) Where reducing pipe fittings such as reducers, reducing tees, and reducing
o-let, etc. are indicated on plan drawing only, the sizes of the fitting shall be
indicated. Type of reducers (CONC. or ECC.) shall be indicated on drawing.
(4) Where reducing couplings, swaged nipples are indicated only for plan
drawing, their sizes shall be indicated.
(1) Where including short pieces of pipe between the pipe fittings.
Table 9 Examples for Indication of 45 Piping (With short piping)
(2) Where not including short pieces of pipe between pipe fittings
Table 10 Examples for Indication of 45 Piping (Without short pipe)
5.4 Pipe Flanges
Note :
(1) The diameter and hub length of flanges to be shown on plan and side view
drawing (refer to the asterisks in above - table) shall be indicated on scale.
(4) Where the piping are indicated based on the view from the axis direction,
the flanges shall not be indicated.
5.5.1 For Upward Installation of the Valve Steams on Horizontal Piping in Plan,
Side View (Front and Axial) and Isometric Drawing
Note :
(1) The face to face, hand wheel, stem and wrench etc. shall be indicated on
scale.
Instrument symbols (with valve numbers), size and rating of safety relief valve,
control valve and special purpose valves shall be indicated as shown in Fig.15 and
16. The instrument symbols shall be referred to section 9 in this practice.
(1) For plan drawing, the instrument symbols shall only be indicated.
Fig. 15 Examples for Instrument Symbols on Plan Drawings
(2) Instrument symbols on side view and isometric drawings shall be indicated
with sizes and ratings.
Fig.16 Examples for Instrument Symbols on Side View and Isometric Drawings
Selection of (1) or (2) in Fig. 17 shall be taken into consideration on the situation of
piping, where either of them is acceptable, Fig. 17 (1) shall be applied.
Example :
Note : There are many type of fire fighting equipment having same purpose.
Table 14 are indicated their representatives, so the other type
components shall be indicated as same method as the table.
"Full Line Number" is defined with a number composed of the Line Size, Line
Number, Line Class and Insulation Requirement, "Line Number" is defined with a
number combined with the fluid symbol and sequential numbers.
Type Symbol
Hot Service Thermal Insulation H
Acoustic Insulation A
Steam Trace with Thermal ST
Insulation
Steam Jacket with Thermal SJ
Insulation
Electric Trace with Thermal ET
Insulation
Personnel Protection P
Dew Protection DP
Note :
For P & ID : Last two digits of P & ID number on which line originates
For UFD : Add 80 to the last two digits of UFD number on which line originates
Where there are no spaces to indicate the full line numbers along the line, the
indication shall be made as shown in Fig. 23. Where too many number of piping
are existing, the respective number shall be provided with heading for easy
understanding.
The flow direction shall be indicated to close the front or rear of the full line
numbers as shown in Fig. 24.
Fig. 24 Examples for Indication of Flow Direction Arrows
Note
(2) * mark indicates the descending toward the left. The piping elevation shall
be indicated at each supporting point, corner and match line.
Note : Elevations for corner in the piping shall be indicated at a elevation of
the cross point of elbow centerline.
Where the bores of weld neck flange are different, the material of the flange
shall be indicated by the symbols (See para. 5.13)
(2) If the plural symbols are specified for the same parts in relevant piping
classes, one of those symbols shall be indicated.
(3) The symbols shall not principally be indicated on the plan drawings.
(4) The indication methods of material symbols shall conform to Fig. 28.
The pipe support symbols shall be indicated as shown in the following Standards.
6. PIPE SUPPORTS
Indication of pipe supports shall be as shown in Table 16, and the line thickness of
pipe support in drafting shall conform to Table 1. However, the stoppers and guides
