ACTIVITY DESIGN

Title: “Unleashing the power Within” - District Training on Leadership for SSG and
other Student Organization Officers
Target: 90 student leaders, 9 SSG Advisers
Date: April 11-13, 2019
Venue: Dangwa Hall, Mankayan Municipal Hall, Poblacion, Mankayan, Benguet

Rationale and Background

Many youth organizations have the goal of developing the leadership potential of youth. The
critical task of providing effective training programs to help youth acquire leadership skills and
knowledge can be a difficult one.
The Federation of Supreme Student Government of Mankayan District has just culminated
the FSSG Election for the Officers for School Year 2018-2019 last March 1, 2019, pursuant to DepEd
Order No. 47, s. 2014 entitled Constitution and by Laws of the Supreme Pupil Government and
Supreme Student Government in Elementary and Secondary Schools and DepEd Order no. 11 s.,
2016 entitled Additional Guidelines to DepEd Order 47, s. 2014.
Furthermore, pursuant to DepEd Memorandum No. 39, s. 2017, Article 8, “The elected
SPG/SSG Officers shall undergo a school-based training on the basic skills of leadership and
management, functions, and responsibilities facilitated by the teacher-advisers and the outgoing
pupil/student government officers only during weekends immediately after the elections or
anytime during the summer vacation, expenses of which shall be charged against SPG/SSG funds
and or local funds. Planning of activities of the SPG/SSG for the coming School Year shall include the
Mandated Programs, Projects and National Greening Program, Teachers’ Month Campaign and
World Teachers’ Day, The Kindergarten Advocacy and Donation Project, Brigada Eskwela, The
National SSG Online Community Project and the SSG’s participation to the annual National
Leadership Training for Student Government Officers (NLTSGO).
As per minutes of meeting of the FSSG last March 1, 2019 there will be a Leadership Training
in pursuant with the abovementioned DepEd Memorandum and Order to the new SSG Officers and
other Student Leaders from the 9 high schools in the district in order to prepare and equip them
with needed knowledge on how to become a leader and other important aspect of an elected official.

The topics which will be discussed will include but not limited to Leadership, Resolution
Making, Office Management. It shall be in a form of training workshop and it shall be good for three
days.
The purpose of this activity is to provide student leaders with a step by step process to help
design effective leadership training programs.
Objective:

1. To develop and enhance the student-leader’s capability to hold meeting based on the
basics of parliamentary procedure;
2. To inculcate amongst the student leaders the true essence of leadership;
3. To equip the student leaders with proper documentation and filing system;
4. To initiate a process of rapid improvement, by means of achieving a shared
understanding of the correct leadership and management methods that we need to
employ to achieve stated goals.
5. To develop student leader skills on:
a. Clarity of purpose (Goal focus)
b. Excellent communication skills: Accurate language
c. Prioritisation, planning and delegation
d. Rational conflict
e. Self-management
f. Inspire and motivate other people (leadership qualities).
