Riverwood Elementary School Achievement Data

RES experienced a slight decrease in both

performance and growth at the end of the
2017/2018 SY according to the NC School
Report Card Data. The drop of growth score is
significant and probably resulted in some
change of practice. Although the data is not
available for the public for the 2018/2019 SY,
both the performance and the growth scores are
expected to have increased considerably. I
expect the numbers to be significantly higher
and the school grade to have returned to a B or
better.

This graph shows how the growth of students

has not been met. For the 2017/2018 school
year, there were more students at a Level 1
and Level 2 proficiency and less who
reached Level 3 proficiency. The graph also
shows a drop in Level 5 proficiency. The
reason for this drop are unknown, but the
school has taken measures during the
2018/2019 school year to improve the
reading levels of all their students.

The math proficiency data shows a similar

pattern as the reading data. A drop in the top
Levels of proficiency and a gain in the lower
levels. The school needs to focus on the
continuation of monitoring these students to
push them into the next level of proficiency.

The science data does not seem to follow the same

pattern as the reading or math. The graph shows that
RES was able to move some Level 1 to Level 2, but it
also shows that the Level 2 students remained at that
level instead of moving to Level 3. The same results are
shown between the Level 4 and Level 5. Teachers are
going to need to support those Level 4 students and
push them into achieving a Level 5.
