PART A
(OBJECTIVE)
Note: Attempt all the questions. Cutting or overwriting is not allowed. (To be attempted
in first ½ hour)
j) In pit silos, to prevent spoilage silage should be removed at the rate of________
a day.
i) 5 cm ii) 10 cm
iii) 15 cm iv) 20 cm
Q.2 Math the following statements (Put the number from column B into the blank of
Column A)
Column A Column B
Note: There are 5 questions and each question carries 10 marks each.
b) Estimate the total length and weight of barbed wire required for (5)
fencing one hectare farm, square in shape. Also determine the
number of corner, regular and main posts.
Q.4 a) Discuss the response of animals when they are subjected to high (5)
environmental temperature with the help of neat diagram.
b) A stall barn for dairy cattle 10x30 meter designed for 50 cows if (5)
Uavg = 1.2 W/m20C and the ceiling height is 2.5 meters, what is the
exposure factor.
OR
b) Discuss the effect of body size and age on basal heat production. (5)
Q.5 a) Differentiate between face-in and face-out type stall barns. (3)
b) Design and draw tail-to-tail stall barn dairy shed for 40 animals. (7)
c) Write the factors that determine the life of farm machines. (3)
Q.7 a) Design a biogas plant to produce 100 KWH of electricity daily by (5)
using biogas as a fuel for the engine generator, Given that:
b) Work out the economical diameter and depth of a pit silo to store (5)
different quality of silage for a herd of 400 dairy cows having an
average body weight of 450 kg each. The cows are fed silage for
200 days a year. Density of silage is 650 kg/m 3. Thickness of
silage fed each day is 10 cm and each cow is to be fed 3 kg of
silage per day per 100 kg body weight.
