Analytical services are offered to clients from Saudi Arabia and the Middle East to Thailand, Laos, China, Vietnam, Philippines,
Malaysia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Australia.
QUALITY ASSURANCE AND SAMPLE TRACKING: Our Jakarta laboratories hold ISO 17025 accreditation for their minerals,
environmental and petroleum analyses whilst the Company is accredited by FOSFA for palm oil testing.
The ISO 17025 accreditation ensures international standards are maintained in the laboratories’ procedures, methodology,
validation, QA/QC, reporting and record keeping. A sophisticated Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is
in place for sample tracking, scheduling, quality control and electronic reporting. This is complemented by bar coding of
samples in the Jakarta laboratories.
Certified Reference Materials, blanks, splits and replicates are analysed with each batch of samples. Selected samples are also
re-analysed to confirm anomalous results. These quality control results are reported along with the sample values in the final
reports. Intertek also participates in a number of regular international proficiency round robins and client specific proficiency
programs.
REFINERY REPRESENTATION: Intertek offers a team of trained superintendents to minimize client risk by the supervision
of precious metal refinery evaluation smelts and export shipments. Our staff will reduce the risk of melt losses and sampling bias
by strictly monitoring the smelting process. This includes receipt of material, equipment use, clean up and product handover.
ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DIVISION: Intertek’s environmental division provides laboratory testing services as well as
environmental consulting services to numerous industries in Indonesia (mining, oil & gas, manufacturing and utilities).
These services include trace level testing of water, soil, sediment, air and biological tissue in addition to testing more complex

Sample Preparation
Correct sample preparation procedures are best selected through consultation with laboratory management prior to sample
submission.
The schemes listed below are a guide only as the choice of procedure will depend on the sample mineralogy, equipment utilized,
time constraints and client budget.
In general, two schemes are offered, Total Preparation and Partial Preparation.
Total Preparation
The entire sample is dried, crushed and fine pulverized. Large samples will require multi-bowl pulverizing, after which the sample
is recombined before the assay pulp is taken.
Partial Preparation
The sample is dried and crushed before a split is taken for fine pulverizing. The size of the split and whether it is taken manually
(Riffle) or mechanically (Rotary Sample Divider) will depend on the client’s requirements and equipment in use.
General Information
Standard drying temperature is set at 105oC but samples may be dried at 60oC if mercury is to be analysed.
Samples may also be roasted to remove sulphides and other interferents before fire assay.
Intertek nominates 95% passing specific sieve sizes for crushing and pulverizing, however, the ability to achieve these percent-
ages will depend on the sample size and mineralogy and the equipment in use at a particular Intertek facility.
Quality control procedures include a 1 in 15 resplit after crushing or pulverising for partial preparation and after pulverizing for
total preparation. These samples are analysed and reported to the client. Also sizing tests are carried out on 1 in 20 assay pulps
at 75um (200#) to monitor the pulverising stage. These values are available to be reported, on request.
It is standard Intertek practice that all crushers and pulverisers are cleaned with barren material and/or bowl washing between
each sample to minimize carry-over contamination.
Sample Storage
Sample residues and pulps will be stored without charge for three months, after which the client will be contacted with the choice
of samples being returned, discarded or stored for a fee.

Precious Metals
Intertek offers a range of analyses for precious metals; gold, platinum and palladium.
PD02
Fire Assay schemes involve fusing the sample with a litharge based flux and collecting the precious metals in a lead button. After
cupellation the resulting prill is dissolved in aqua regia and the gold is determined by AAS for routine samples. Samples
exceeding the upper limits of the method are automatically re-assayed utilising a high grade gravimetric method.
Alternatively, for low level samples, graphite tube atomization via AAS may be used for gold, platinum and palladium
determinations.
Samples with sulphide or base metal matrices may be roasted or have the flux mixture changed to accommodate the matrix.
FA30
30g of sample is analysed. This scheme is suitable for higher concentration samples, those generated in ore body definition
drilling and samples with a sulphide and/or copper matrix. Detection Limit (DL) 0.01ppm, Upper Limit (UL) 30ppm.
FA50
50g of sample is analysed. This scheme is suitable for exploration samples when the identification of anomalous samples is
important. DL 0.005ppm, UL 50ppm. A recommended option for grassroots exploration is the use of a new fire assay pot for each
sample.
FA51
50g of sample is analysed. This scheme is recommended for routine samples that are not subject to any matrix issues nor
particularly low or high concentrations. DL 0.01ppm, UL 50ppm.
A gravimetric finish is used for samples exceeding the upper limits of the routine methods or for known high concentration
samples.
FA55
For low level exploration samples where 50g is analysed and a graphite tube atomisation finish is employed to give low
detection limits. Platinum and palladium can also be determined as additional elements. D.L Au (1ppb), Pt (5ppb), Pd (1ppb).
FA20
Screen fire assay is used to identify coarse gold and typically involves sieving 1 kilogram of sample at 75um (200#). The entire
oversize and duplicate undersize samples are fired and the weighted average is calculated and reported.
Cyanide soluble gold is determined by leaching the sample in a dilute cyanide solution.
High Grade Bottle Roll methods are used for ore grade samples and leach conditions can be customised to client requirements.
Additional optional information includes stages pH and cyanide levels, total cyanide consumption along with tail recovery and
analysis. Accelerated leaching using Leachwell is also available.
BLEGS are a low level exploration method commonly used for stream sediment samples to identify low value anomolies.
Two techniques are offered, standard leach and GTA finish or a zinc collection method (based on the Merril Crowe technique)
Copper and silver may be determined as additional elements..

Geochemical Analysis by ICP
Aqua regia (3:1 HCl:HNO3) digestion is a mixture of hydrochloric and nitric acids. Most sulphide minerals are readily dissolved
but silicates, aluminates and many other minerals are only slightly digested. Samples exceeding upper limits can be re-assayed
by a suitable ore grade method if required.

Fusion Analysis by XRF
X-ray fluorescence (XRF) is an instrumental method of analysis in which a sample, pressed into a pellet or fused into a disc, is
introduced into an X-ray beam. The sample is fused with a borate flux, the fusion process breaks down the sample matrix
completely thus the results obtained are “total”.
