Method 1

For Adiabatic Compression,

Volumetric Flowrate (V) = Mass Flowrate/Density = 2.662/3.214 = 0.8282514 m 3/s

From the Graph of Volumetric Flowrate vs Efficiency ,

Polytropic Efficiency (Ep) = 0.681 (at 0.8282514 m3/s)

Reduced Temperature (Tr) = T/Tc = ((297.15 + 550.46195)/2) / 416.9 = 1.016565

Reduced Pressure (Pr) = P/Pc = ((1.24163+4.82323)/2)/81.34276 = 0.037279654

m = (ϒ-1)/(ϒ*Ep) = (1.448-1)/(1.448*0.681) = 0.45432

Td = Ts * (Pd/Ps)m = 297.15 * (4.82323/1.24163)0.45432 = 550.46195 K

From Graphs of Compressibility Factors,

z = 0.98 , X = 0.04, Y = 1.01,

m = ((z*R)/Cp) * ((1/Ep) + X) = ((0.98*0.117254)/0.564) * ((1/0.681) + 0.04) = 0.3073261

n = 1/(Y-(m*(1+X)) = 1 / (1.01 - (0.3073261 * (1 + 0.04)) = 1.448476

Now, Polytropic Work

Wp = (z * R * Ts) * (n / (n-1)) * ((Pd/Ps)( n / (n-1)) – 1) = (0.98 * 0.117254 * 297.15) * (1.448476 / (1.448476-

1)) * ((4.82323 / 1.24163)( 1.448476 / (1.448476-1)) – 1)

Wp = 57.58926356 kJ/kg

Actual Work Required (Wact) = Polytropic Work / Ep = 57.58926356 / 0.681 = 84.5657321 kJ/kg

Power = Wact * m = 84.5657321 * 2.662 = 225.114 kW

Td = Ts * (Pd/Ps)m = 297.15 * (4.82323 / 1.24163)0.3073261 = 450.92 K

Power in kWh = 225.114 * 24 = 5402.736 kWh
