PROTECTION OF WATER RECEPTORS

If dewatering of excavations is occurring are there


adequate measures in place to protect nearby
watercourses or drains (e.g. regular monitoring, pumping
over grass, use of silt sediment tanks)?

Check condition of silt netting, is it effective and well


maintained?

Is there any erosion or other signs of damage at outfalls


Is on-site drainage adequate and working appropriately?
(check for ponding, water logging, erosion, silt creation,
etc.).

Visual signs of turbidity in any water courses or of


contaminated water reaching these water courses.

Is there any evidence of soil disturbance on the banks of


watercourses that could lead to sediment movement to the
river?

At water course crossings is disturbance and silt


generation being minimized, are all mitigation measures in
place and are they working adequately?

Are swales, lagoons, silt traps and all water quality


mitigation measures in good condition and maintained.

If concrete pouring is taking place is a concrete washout


facility provided and is it being correctly used and
maintained?
