social curations, and wikis.
Prominent examples of Social Media:
Facebook – a free social networking website that allows
registered users to create profiles, share photos and
videos, send messages and keep in touch with friends,
family, and colleagues. According to the statistics from
the Nielson Group, internet users within the United
States spend more time in Facebook than other websites
Twitter – a free microblogging website that allows
registered members to broadcast short posts called
tweets. Twitter members can broadcast tweets and
follow other users’ tweets through any platform or
device.
Wikipedia – a free, open content online encyclopedia
created by the collaborative effort of a community of
users called Wikipedians. Anyone registered on this
website can create articles for publication and
registration is not required to edit articles. It was
founded on January 2001.

- Advancements in technology have helped us a
lot especially with communication. We do
communicate but we are losing the sense of
genuine connection with others.
- Text messages and emojis are poor substitutes
to a sincere hug, a firm handshake, and even
handwritten notes.
- Our increasing reliance with text messages and
results in less civility, courtesy, and
consideration to others.
- Other people like celebrities tend to blast each
other through social media instead of ironing out
their differences personally.
- We are becoming more detached even to our
loved ones as communication via cellphones and
tablets replace intimate, engaged, and personal
conversations.
- We should use social media and text messages to
facilitate and not to replace authentic personal
communication in both our business and
personal lives.

Selfies – a type of self portrait that is taken using a digital
camera or camera phone by that same person.

men. However, as men and women reach the
age of 40, men take more self-portraits.
- Selfies have become more than just a self-
promotion of people with inflated egos. It has
become a way of self-expression.

Organization – The speech should be arranged logically.

It should have a proper flow. There should be an
introduction, followed by the main points, and the
conclusion.

Speech – Pay attention to your voice. Make sure that it is

more.
