Write a synopsis of "'Zay El Shams"

“Zay El Shams”, is a short film that shows a student that fall in love with her
professor who was originally a war documentary filmmaker. From what was shown
throughout the film that, the professor was a different character, he sometimes
disappears and no one knows anything about him, he filmed 23 films and showed his
students only one of them and he burnt the rest. I believe that filming wars affected
his personality. The student had some recordings of his lectures with his voice, she
started listening to them in the film and narrating the whole story from her point of
view, how she felt and what she did to try to find him after the last lecture, especially
because he disappeared. The recording helped the audience to try to visualize him,
and to know his personality from what he was saying. He never knew that she was in
love with him and he didn’t appear again in her life.

2. Identify 3 positive and 3 negative aspects of the film.

Three Positive:
1. I really like the idea of how the film was filmed, especially the parts that had the
lectures recordings.
2. The actress that played the student role was great. She was able to convince the
audience, as if she was the real student who loved her professor.
3. How the story was developed was very inspiring.
Three Negatives:
1. I didn’t like that she didn’t mention the professor name or picture, so the audience
can me more attached to the story and can imagine it better.
2. There was some footage that was used that I don’t feel it is related to the story.
3. Maybe if there were more actors and actresses, it would have added to it.
3. Suggest ways to improve/alter it
 As I said before, if the director added more actors and actresses, I would have been
better.
