Sub: Introduction of Biometric system for recording the attendance


of the staff of the Institute – reg.

As a part of computerization and digitization of the activities of the Institute, biometric


system is being introduced for recording digitally the attendance of the staff of the Institute.
Accordingly, biometric instruments are being installed in most of the blocks/buildings of the
Institute to enable the staff to register their attendance by recording their finger impression in the
machines.

Staff of the Institute shall compulsorily record their attendance in the biometric system
with effect from August 1, 2013 by recording their finger impression while reporting for duty in
the morning and again in the evening, after working hours while leaving the Institute.

Till such time biometric instruments are installed in all the blocks/departments, staff may
please utilize the existing facilities available in the Departments/blocks as detailed below, while
the staff are at liberty to utilize the facilities in any of the blocks/departments at their
convenience:

It is further notified that, in addition to registering the attendance digitally as above, staff
are required to sign in the attendance registers in the respective departments as is being done
hitherto, till such time notification is issued dispensing signing in the Attendance registers on
effective implementation of the biometric system for the Institute as a whole.

Staff of the Institute are informed to comply with the above requirement and render
assistance in introduction of biometric system for attendance in the Institute w.e.f. August 1,
2013.
