THE BIRD WITH GOLDEN WINGS

Varsha lived with her mother. Her mother worked as a coke in a rich
man’s house. Every day her mother got a little of rice to eat. One day
her mother got more of rice. They ate some and then mother told
Varsha ‘I am placing the left over rice on the terrace, keep an eye on
it because usually some birds come and eat it. Varsha understood
what she needs to do and when her mother was on her work she was
sitting on the terrace. Varsha saw that a sparrow was coming
towards her with a hunger. Varsha gave some rice to the sparrow
and told her to go away. She saw a crow and did the same. And then
she was shocked to see a bird with golden wings. ‘Can you give some
rice too’ said the bird with a soft voice. Varsha was surprised and said
ye…..ye….yes go ahead but eat few of the rice. The bird in a second
ate all the rice. Varsha was angry and scolded the bird. ‘My mother
will be so angry if she saw that there is not a single piece of rice’ said
Varsha. ‘Oh sorry my friend’ said the bird. ‘I will pay for it dear follow
me’ said the bird. Varsha was confused and followed the golden bird.
The bird reached a banyan tree and flied at the top as there was her
house. The bird asked Varsha from which ladder she wants to climb.
She knew only one kind of ladder that was made of bamboo. ‘I want
a bb…..bamboo ladder please’ said Varsha. In a fraction of a second a
bamboo ladder appeared in front of Varsha because of the bird’s
magic. When Varsha was inside the bird’s house, everything was
made of gold even the toilet seat was made of gold. The bird asked
Varsha in which plate she would like to eat. Varsha thought that if
she will take the leaf plate maybe the taste of the food will increase.
‘A…..AA….the leaf one’ said Varsha. In a second the leaf plate was on
the table. Varsha had delicious food to eat. At the end the bird placed
three boxes on the ground and asked Varsha which one she wants.
Varsha thought for a while and chossed the smallest one because she
needs to go home. When Varsha told her mother about her
adventure mother was not at all angry with her. When they opened
the box it was filed with stones and gems. Mother knew that now no
longer she needs to work as a cook. ‘We can open our own shop’ said
mummy. Few days later they were the richest in the whole town.
They had a greedy neighbor Kapila. Kapila was very angry to see a
rich family. She asked varsha’s mother ‘how have you been so rich,
please tell me the secret, I promise I will not tell anybody’. Poor
mother told Kapila about the adventure Varsha had. Kapila id the
same she placed some grains on the terrace and watched them. Soon
the sparrow came and the crow came too. They asked for some but
Kapila said no and watted for the golden bird. Soon the bird came
and kapila was very happy. Kapila said to the bird ‘you may have all
the grains’. The bird said that she want some of them but Kapila
forced her. Kapila also said that she needs to pay for it. Poor bird said
yes and ate all the grains.
