Abstract

Problem: This descriptive study focused on the proficiency of Bachelor of Sci-

ence in Marine Engineering students in reading behavior. Reading behavior re-

fers to the way which a person responds to reading.

Method: This study involved randomly selected 3rd year BSMar-E students that

served as the study’s respondents. The instrument used in gathering data is lim-

ited only to questionnaire form and the method of interpreting the data gathered

was done through the use of giving questionnaire.

Findings: The Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering students is proficient

inreadig behavior. Specifically, they are proficient in English subject.

Conclusions: The place of residence does not significantly affect Bachelor of

Science in Marine Engineering students’ proficiency in reading behavior.

Recommendations: Marine Engineering students must read on the development

to achieve higher proficiencies when it comes to these necessary fields of their

professional study.
