ABSTRACT

CORRELATIONS BETWEEN FORGIVENESS ATTITUDE AND LEVELS OF JOB


SATISFACTION OF NURSES AT PKU MUHAMMADIYAH HOSPITAL SURABAYA

Forgiveness is interpreted as a person readiness to leave anger, negative judgment, and


indifferent behavior towards others who have hurt him intentionally or unintentionally.
Forgiveness itself is able to reduce negative emotions to be positive, it can lead to mental
maturity, clear up and expand the heart and mind, so it has an impact on satisfaction and
calmness. The purpose of this research is to analyze the correlation of forgiveness attitude and
the level of job satisfaction of nurses at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital in Surabaya.
Methodology used in this research is analytical correlational method with cross
sectional approach. Population of the research is all nurses at PKU Muhammadiyah hospital
Surabaya. Sampling is done by using consecutive sampling technique. The sample is 30 nurses
with inclusion criteria. The independent variable is forgiveness attitude aspect and the
dependent variable is job satisfaction of nurses. Research instruments are questionnaires with
validity values. The reliability of Alpha Cronback forgiveness is 0.798 and workability is
0.856. the data are analyzed by chi-square statistical test.
The results show that percentage of Hallow forgiveness with low level of job
satisfaction (Not Satisfied) is 33.3%. Percentage of the Silent Forgiveness with low level of
job satisfaction (Not Satisfied) is 29.97%. Statistical analysis of -value is 0.017 which is
smaller than alpha alfa =0.05 which means that there is a significant correlation between
forgiveness attitude and the level of job satisfaction of nurses.
By the result of this research, it is expected that the forgiveness attitude can be increase
so it can lead to the increase of job satisfaction level of nurses.
